Progress: my 1/2 anniversary of SPS addiction

Yeah if you want to zip up a few, and send them my way, I would be glad to try to work them out.

Yeah the 40 is up and running I just havent taken to many shots because it is too packed with coral so it doesn't look how I want it to. I'll start a thread once I get it all cleaned up.

Looking forward to your thread it will be a nice tank for sure, I am a fan of your aqualandscape.

Were you able to sell all those frags? I PMed you several time for the pink lemonade but no did not hear from you. Let me know if you have frag for Carl's candlelight in future.

i used to have 6 t-5 over my tank but went back to halides and now put on vhos last night. the thing with running 2 supper actinic vhos is it as dark but stuff pops so im gonna see how the tank looks with a 454 and a supper actinic. I went all the day to marks first pic of with the actinics on before he processed the photos and i saw what my tank looked like. in the actinics pic that is on his tank of the month it is not vhos alone for actinics. If it is then it is to bright blue.

Few new frags: tyree tri-color, pink lemonade, altimate purple monster. I am pretty much done with stocking, from now on I will focus on de-stocking, slowly take out some and leave space for those doing really well in my tank.

Some frags in early batch has been doubled/trippled size in few month and color up day by day, things looks pretty promising so far. I am pretty happy with growth and color from all-T5, now let's see how far can unsupplemented Radium go.

Very nice tank, love the corals I am a LPS guy for now. Putting my tank back in after the mini remodel. Funny I thought my I-Tech 200 was oversized for my 120 until I realized my purple pinwheel was cracked, now I have a Red Demon on there.

This is best I can get, looks ugly with too many small frags and too much coralline on the glass that I have no time to clean.
Long arms and short sleeves.

very cool :] i just got a red planet as well. also a pink birds nest, bird of paradice, garf bonsai, and rainbow stylo

Sweet pick and wish your best luck! SPS is really fun coral changes everyday as if they talking to you about how good is their day. Sometimes after a very bad day, when I go home and looked into tank at night, found that they have another happy day, I have smile on my face.

i-Tech rocks! I guess you were using sicce, in the long run you may consider switching to Tunze pump it draws as much air but way much reliable, and it is very quiet. In any case wish you good luck on the red damon.

LOL. My arm is long enough but these coralline is hard to remove, I did once but was only able to remove 1/4 of them on the bottom and it takes me about two hour (it is so boring I had many breaks and look at corals :) I can only spend very limited time on the tank, being in family of working couple and two small kids, my 1st priority has to be health of livestock.

Any good idea of cleaning these algea? they just seem love growing on glass than live rocks.

I may ask this question in a seperated thread.

Greedy eater?

I always think SPS eat food in very small particle, until tonight after I feed my tank, I notice this guy trying to eat a mysis. Obviously it produce a lot of slime to wrap the small shrimp, I can not image it has the right size mouth to swallow, how is he gonna do? Let's see.

yeah i once fed a giant mysid shrimp to the largest tip polyp on my blue millie when it brought the mysid down to the mouth all the small polyps pulsed close i was weird.

You're off to a great start! My trick for getting a good picture is taking it straight on, angling down a little. I stand on a chair, because I have a tall tank stand. I get less of the back wall of the aquarium that way. Also, i've had good luck setting the white balance to shade and using manual focus rather than auto. I use a nikon D80 with 50mm lens. I've been taking a pic of my tank every month for a year. Makes it easy to backtrack good and bad decisions, if you are keeping a reef log :)

It seems that the coral can not swallow it, the shrimp still hang one there. I guess it try to enjoy the food slowly.

Thank you!

Thank you for the kind word and the advice, I will practise. Taking pictures periodically is good idea, we can track the growth and color change.

I went to Lowes or Home Depot and got a wall paper scraper it has a black plastic handle with a four inch razor on it. You can find it in the paint section, it is used to remove wall paper I believe it cost about 5 bucks.

Thanks! I will try, will not scratch glass right? How about starfire glass (that will be my upgrade)
