Evan,

Did you get the vortech battery backup ?

That thing has saved my tank a couple of times already.

Any truth to the rumor they are not backed by ice cap anymore ?

Your dog is freaking adorable!!! I love the cone all banged up...too freaking funny. Hope he? she? heals up soon

I need to find out all I can about battery backup. We live very near where the Alabama tornadoes were on monday night. No power till today! I rushed out and got battery operated pumps for air but it got very cold last night and along with gas logs and putting jugs of hot water in tank everything has made it through but I will be prepared next time. Thanks for your help. (I have been subscribed for weeks and love your tank and what you guys do. I wish yall lived closer maybe yall could get me to keep sps alive :) )

Who is Evan?

Marty

And if no-one replies to this thread, Evan won't update it. So it is up to you, Reef Central. You will either make or break this thread.

Great question and it's truly a worthy investment. I did get one and ended up giving it to Marc a few years ago. He has been running it for years and I'll let him chime in here because I know he loves it. My new backup coming is a very high end UPS made for TVs and such that I got a very very good deal on. More details and pics to come upon delivery.

The Ice Cap thing is true. I don't know this for a fact but I know that Andy from Ice Cap retired and I believe he was Ecotech's biggest tie to Ice Cap. Ecotech began parting themselves from Ice Cap but Ice Cap is still providing there ordering and customer service. I think they maintain a great relationship but just decided to not be "partners" anymore. Again this is just what I have gathered/assumed, don't take that for 100% accurate.

Thanks Lunchy! She is a riot and went with me to Marc's the other day and even Marc will confirm that she is very cute and fun when she decides to mind her manors.

P.S. I know you are about the only one that will care. I started two-a-days yesterday and my leg workout last night was so bad I can't walk today. UGH, thank God for glutamine and ZMA.

Ouch. I'm glad you made it through. You may want to tune in to a certain show and listen to a certain one about disaster preparation, sounds like you knew what you were doing though :D The battery backup would have been a HUGE help guaranteed. I'll give you a nice writeup on the one I get. You don't have to break the bank to save your tank which is nice. I bet I could help you out with SPS, feel free to ask any questions here.

I just saw the update... I'll be tuned in...

Evan, How did you create a jpg out of the 3D model you made? I've drawn something up and want to convert it to a jpg so I can post it but I dont know how.

Zigg, hope you figured it all out.

I added the cabinet next to my tank in SketchUp as well as the prop tank and stand door w/ window. The only thing left to get my entire system in SketchUp as it is currently is the sump and plumbing. Everything is measured and to scale.

I have finished drawing up my next project in SketchUp as well but I'm not ready to reveal it yet :D
