Rate of Clown Growth? Estimated age?

Hey Guys,

So I got 2 fairly small clowns (1", & 1.5cm) in my new tank. I was just curious if there is any way to estimate their age, as well as how fast they grow.

For example, would it take roughly a year to double in size?
I am aware that the bigger one will become the female & remain larger.

Thanks!

It depends on how much you feed them, estimating their age is tough, maybe a few months old though. In a year they can be pretty much at their maximum size, assuming they are happy and well fed.

Is the clown wild caught or aquaculture? Clowns that are wild caught will stop growing and remain prepubescent if they are not the dominant male or female. So you could have a "baby" clown that's 20 years old and it only look like it's 6 months.

The only way to know the age of a clown fish for sure is to buy it from a tank raised facility.

You didn't name species. Maroons can top out at 6.5 inches. Percs can make 4.5 but usually stay in the 3.5 range. Clarkiis 5.5.
Damsels of any sort can acquire full size in a little over a year.
