Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

ron on your it2080 did you get 120 degree lenses.. im looking at a couple of these to go over my large reef tank.. going with the 120 lenses on the red and greens.. what about the violets? and as you say the moon got that.

but the whites? and while talking about whites.. do a mix of whites or just neutral whites. thanks

I have 90's on everything now. Will switch out moons, UV, violets and reds with 120's when I get them (they are on order with EG). I'd do green too, but I don't have any.

I did a mix of all 3 whites about 2:2:1 cool:neutral:warm. And to be perfectly honest, I did it for no solid reason other than I didn't want too much yellowish warm white. But IMHO they are so close in color I don't think it makes much difference. The big issue is getting the right overall blue to white ratio for the color you want. I went too white and will do the swap when my lenses and spare leds get here in a couple of weeks.

ron.. what was your ratio of blue to white.. i tend to like the 12 to 14k look.

I did 3:2 blue to white and at 100% it's pure white. I run now at 90% blue and 40% white just to get something close to 14K. If you want 12K-14K at 100%, I'd go at least 2:1 and maybe even 5:2. The whites over power the blue very easily. So at 100%, even if it's too blue, you won't have to dial the blues back much to get a whiter look. I have the opposite problem and have to dial the whites way back. I just heard that my spare blue bulbs and lenses are due in about Wednesday. Yea!

maybe I missed it but could someone explain why the photon 16 has 55 leds and the 24 only has 51 looks like it should be the other way so the 24 covers a bigger area with less leds explain this to me please.

QUESTION

I just got my two photon32's hung and turned on for the first time tonight. Everything looks good except when I power them off I see the blue little light stays lit on the touch screen and I hear a higher pitch whistle sound that is coming from inside both units... Is this normal?

I unplugged the two units for now since it doesn't seem like they should be making this noise when they are turned off.

Oh, and it is definitely not the fans running that I hear as I checked that. It is coming from inside the units and the noise stops when I unplug them (obviously but just to clarify it is the lights making the noise).

Anyone hear these sounds?

No on the sounds. But if it's the info screen that is making the noise, I have mine tuned off. To turn the screen on and off, just push and hold the left arrow button on the remote. BTW, the fans still run even when you only have the moonlights on. I haven't run mine with no lights on.

I just turned my info screen back on and still didn't hear anything but the soft whir of the fans.

I did that and then powered down and the noise is still there. It's coming from the far left side of the unit (does it on both units).

Oh, and when the lights are ON the sounds goes away....

Came home at midnight with moon lights still on. I left the custom settings at factory settings. The controller said CH1:0 and CH2:0. Is there some programming to do a auto moon cycle of sorts? I toggled each light thru settings and back to custom. Moon lightning was no longer on. This was two Photon 24. Both did the same thing. I have date/time set correctly in units. I didn't read the instructions. This is just a picture to show my set up. Not picture of what happened.

Mine are quieter running than when turned off! What the heck...

Very strange. No idea what to tell you. Open up and check drivers? let reef breeders know. I am trying to figure out programming. Came home last night at midnight with moon lights still on in custom with CH1:0 CH2:0. Both lights. Do these lights have moon cycle? Do they talk to each other? I don't think it holds memory on power cycle. I had a custom cycle but didn't hold when I unplugged to set up my apex.
