Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

My RB proton32 is on its way and will be here tomorrow .I went with a max spect rail system for my led light support. Not bad for 75ish bucks vs/ the other rail system I was looking at . No way in hell I was going to pay 160.00 for that. Lmao...... But on a side note : Ever time I have sent Logan a email or phone call. I have always been contacted back either the next day or 2. I understand the man is busy , and he has to wait on china also. So I don't think he's the blame. We are the ones to blame for depending on products from other country's cause its cheaper to have them made there. So until Americans grow some balls and step up to the gov. And bring our jobs back to the states. Complain to yourself why you have to wait on china to get what you want, and not the man that's tring to help us out. I believe he is tring his best. But when he gets someone that just wants to just complain to him and not try to help him. I have to agree with Logan if he ignores you.....just my .02

Sorry all - the photon 16 I just recieved *does indeed* have a heatsink. It's small, about 1/2" high, and it covers about the middle 80% of the unit.

I really don't feel this light is cheap at all. There are some design shortcuts, but overall, the actually quality of the light itself is really fantastic. It may just be my eyes but I swear this thing looks even better than my Vega's - it may just be the fact that these have more LEDs, and they're spread under the entire fixture, not bunched together in 4 small pucks.

Thus far, after a week, I'd 100% recommend these lights to anyone looking for a great value fixture. A personal thanks to "Ron Reefman" whose posts I read over and over and they finally convinced me to give these a try.

I got my IT-2060 last week from Reef Supply Canada. It shipped from Hong Kong but it was on my doorstep in sixty hours, if you can believe that.

Man I love this light! :bounce1: Everything about it from the high-quality looking case, to the hanging hardware, the controller, the color and the PAR it puts out, the near-silent fans ... awesome. This has got to be the best light for the money I've ever seen.

BTW it does have a heat sink, which I took a photo of while I had the fixture popped apart messing with the lenses, but now I can't find the pic. I'll take another one when I'm installing my 120 degree optics (it came with 90's).

And three cheers for Reef Supply Canada, by the way. The 120 degree optics were supposed to be shipped with the light, but someone in Hong Kong didn't get the memo. RSC stepped up and got them on the way with a quickness. Also ... LOL ... I dropped my remote control in the tank the very first day ... would you believe they're sending me another one free of charge??

I also dropped mine in the tank. I put it in some rice after taking the battery out and a few days later worked like new. I won't say the words I used when I dropped it in on DAY 1, this is a family show.

My photon16s just got here. I'm still waiting on the rest of my maxspect rails to come in. I mentioned how I plan to mount them in the above post. How are you planning on mounting yours to the maxspect rails?

Here is the inside of my Photon16 with the heatsink. I opened it to inspect how I would mount my rail bracket to it.

King Nine, yes I went with the tank rails. I just have to trim som of the inside lip of my 40breeder tank rim on the inside.

That looks very nice and clean on the inside.

What I'm trying to figure out is how you are going to mount the photons to the rails. Sorry I was a little vague on the last question. Just want to see if you are doing something similar to me.

Just got to go to **** depot to find some eye screws in stainless . To either thread into the existing holes or drill them out and retap the threads for next size up.

Glad I'm not the only one! The worst part was, I KNEW it was gonna happen. I held that remote in my hand for the first time, I looked at it said "I'm gonna drop this thing in the tank".

It only took about four hours to happen.

Here is my RB proton32 light hanger for when it arrives. Maxspect rail , I am using 10/32 eye screws screwed into the bottom (had to dip them in the rubber coating rustolum hand tools stuff) die to the screws don't come in stainless only zinc at that size.

Ok here is my maxspect rail system. I was planning on using the slide on rail brackets and then using the short side of the elbow joints instead of the high side of them. If I do that I would have to hacksaw a little over an inch off one of the pipes and I don't want to do that. So I came up with this idea. I'm just looping the hanging kit over the rail and not using the long hanging wire. This will put the lights almost exactly 5" above the water. Is 5" a good heigth with my 90 optics?

UF Gator - will your eyelet drop the unit too far?

I'm currently looking to convert my FOWLR 55g long tank to include corals.
Should I go with the Evergrow IT2060 or the IT2080? The IT2080 seems a bit overkill for my tank though. If I do go with the IT2060, should I be using the 120° bulb to spread the light further?

I plan on cutting them down a little so they will be flush with the rail.

OH NO! The rail bases do NOT fit on the edge of the aquarium!!! The gap on the base is way to narrow to fit around my edge of the tank. I had it all set up and pulled the T5s off and tried to put the LEDs on. What a horrific discovery! UF-GATORS do you have this problem. I need ideas fast!!!

I took a razor blade to the lip on the inside of the tank. I noticed this problem. Take a ruler and score the lip with the razor blade 10in. Then made a cut with side cutters and then plyers to bend back and forth the plastic lip you scored. And pop off . No more fitting issue. And still has a lip there for security to hold rails onto....

Here is a pic of a drawing of what I did. I'm not at home to show exactly but this will give you the idea. Only 1/8 -3/16 should be plenty cut off the lip.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368914492.449553.jpg
