Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

Yes it is.

But be careful. There are 4-6 other suppliers out there that assemble fixtures that look EXACTLY like the D120 or value fixture but aren't as good. I have both a SunSun and a TaoTronics and the both have loud fans and much lower PAR numbers (I'm guessing due to something other than Bridgelux leds or ineffective lenses?).

I have a 110cm long tank. Should I get the IT2080 or 2 multicolor D120? I would prefer one fixture, but it seems to more power in 2 D120.

The IT2080 is rated 240W, but only consumes 700mA. 230Vx700mA = 161W.
My current fixture is a KEY-LED model K3, and it is 160W. I want a upgrade, but I can`t find anywhere how many mA it consumes in comparison.

And thoughts from you "experts" out there? ;-)

Power consumption has little to do with light output. Led choices and lenses are huge factors as well. See explanation above. The D120 drives 55 leds at 120w or 2.18w per led. Just because they are 3w leds doesn't mean they run at 3w. The IT2080 is 99 leds at 240w or 2.4w per led. I have both over my tanks. The difference is the D120 has dimmers and the IT2080 has a timer/controller. I use the IT series over my dT's and the D120's (soon to be swapped out for the new OceanRevive competitor) over my QT and frag tank.

Hmm, my concern was that it seems the it2080 only runs at appr. 160 watt. That is 1,6W per Led. Isn' t that a bit weak, and therefor better to buy 2 d120w, which runs at 2,4w per Led?

modding the D120 and IT series LED lights

I have looked at both the internals for the D120 and the IT2040 and they both use the same drivers. I have 2 IT2040's and 2 D120's and would like to link them together for the dimming. I know I wont have the moon light channel but my DA MLC can handle the moon lighting part on the other two. Would it be possible to make a port (CAT5 connection from the D120 to the IT controller to use it for dimming? Would there be any issues with overloading the controller with 2 extra drivers connected?

My current setup is over a Oceanic 165g and I want to run all 4 of them front to back or maybe end to end if spread will not work on this system due to my cloudy glass center brace.

Coming from metal halides I am really enjoying these lights for there features!

Here's a old picture of my tank with two LEDs on the left and center and 1 250w Radion 20k in a Lumen Bright 3 Mini Wide pendant with a Galaxy ballast on the far right:

None of the attachments are working. :uhoh2: I can't wait to see it. I should have mine up tonight!! I cut the inside tabs of the braces so they will just sit on top of the aquarium with no inside lip. I also picked up a PAR meter today from a friend so I can check out what I'm getting now vs what I'll get with the LEDs

Need some advice. i bought two photon 16s and opted for a custom layout. When i got the units, i see my channels are not sperated into whites and reds, greens into one channel , blues in another. They mixed it all up to where both channels are a mixture of white and blue.

When i ask about it they are saying oh you chose custom the channels cant be changed based on your layout the board has to be changed. Is that correct? i thought when you choose custom, the build has to account for the custom channels too. If the board is fixed in channels configuration, that takes away a lot from the positioning of leds wont it. please help

They're right. The channels are set, all you can do is make sure you're swapping LED's in the exact channels that you want to end up with. You may need to mess with them to get the blues on channel 1, and other colors/whites on channel 2. I've always thought new standard layout is awesome, what did you switch to?

So my three fixtures are going over my standard 125 gallon, 72" tank. I'm going to build a canopy of sorts for them to go in. How far above the aquarium/water should the fixtures be? I'll have 90 degree optics.

Thanks!

i added two greens and so had to move some blues around. i didnt realize the position of leds in a channel are fixed. Talking to logan . hopefully he will help resolve this. asked him if he can replace them with their default photon 16s
