Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

Mine are 5 above and if I can raise them to 6 I will The 90's are giving me shadows between the units. I think it is because of the braces plus the distance between the fixtures combined. And extra inch would let the optics spread a little more.

That looks nice. I see where you cut out the plastic that would hold a glass top to make it fit. I would have had to cut that out plus part of the top of the frame. I ended up cutting the inside tab off the bracket on the maxspect rail after speaking with Chris at CoralVue. It bow in so much it scares me though. I am not very please with it. I'll post pics up in a while.

do you have three fixtures? what size fixtures?

I would say it probably did bow. At 36 in its nice and sturdy. But another 2ft. I bet it did look scary. These lights aren't light by any means. Which is a good thing kinda sorta. Like back in the day when vcrs and DVD players had some weight to them. Lol, you knew they were gonna last a while. Then when they became lighter and full of plastic. They didn't last a month or 2. Lmao

Ok here are my 3 Photon16s and my maxspect rails I got up and running last night. 1st the lights:

The lights are sooo different than the T5s. I swear the tank looks darker than when the T5s were running but the difference in PAR is crazy. At about 40% I'm getting about 250 6" below the surface and about 170 at the sand. I was shocked that my T5s weren't coming close to those numbers. Old bulbs maybe?? Hmmm. Thank goodness I have these now or my beautiful Maxima clam might not have lasted much longer! HOWEVER - one of the lights refuses to keep time. At first it kept time slowly but now it wont even try. Logan at RB is sending me out a new controller for it. I have to work so I just set it way below where the other lights would eventually ramp up to because it would have run like that all day and I couldn't leave it set that high for 8 hours.

The rails: The rail system is very ingenious but is just not right for 6' tank. I used extra slide on braces where the gaps are to help brace them from bowing but that didn't help as much as I though it would. It bowed so much that I had to shorten the span over 1" to compensate for the bowing as the braces slide outward over 1" under the pressure. If you look at the FTS you can clearly see how far it bows downward. It even makes the lights on the left and right angle outward. If you read my above post about my shadowing I'm worried about I'm going to wait to remove optics untill I can hang these level as I'm very sure they are contributing to the shadow with the angle they are hanging at.

My goodness , I would be freaking out too. That sagging at least 1.5 inches I would bet..... That sucks on the on light. But at least Logan is fixing you up. Yes Thea LEDs are a big step up for me , from my 24 in 4 bulb T5. To 99 LEDs . Lol
I am going to see a friend about doing 2 plates for me, and then mount closer to the frame for a little more height. For just a little more spread front to back..which would give me another 3 inches higher up. Making it about 8 in off the water. Right now , it's about 4.5-5

Scary was a good description of this system on a 6' tank with 3 lights. How about adding one shelf type bracket with an extension to the middle? Besides leveling it out there would be less chance of an accident if an end brace failed or was bumped into. I covered my tank top with glass for fear the lights could fall in while working on the tank and added GFI's to all the light circuits. Not that I am paranoid but better safe than sorry.

I put adhesive under the braces to make sure they wont slip plus I tested it on the ground first by putting more pressure on it. This is the maximum it will go. I'm thinking of buying the over the tank braces in package B with some extensions to use as abrace untill I find something else usuable. If you brace it straight to the tank partitions they are not strong enough to hold that kind of weight.

I can't open the DOC file, I tried with the microsoft word version that came with my Win 7, but it comes up looking like gibberish.

Nvm, I scrolled down and there are words below the gibberish.

I'm guessing the info I need is somewhere in the gibberish, cause the only part I see is the basics, then the rest of the page doesn't load using my version of Word.

So can someone walk me through the setup?

I want the lights to cut on at 3pm, 1hr ramping for dusk and dawk, and moonlights on the rest of the time.

I still don't get it though. I don't see a time on and time off option anywhere.
Do put in the settings I want and then put the unit on a regular timer, so when the timer kicks the unit on, it starts its manual cycle?

NVM I just figured it out. Had to play with custom for awhile to ge tthat moonlight is on ch1 below 10%

It only changes in 30min incriminets?

Does that mean if I set it to 0% at 10:00 and 10% at 10:30, does it gradually rise in % or does it just jump from 0% to 10% at 10:30?
