Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

Ron just stumbled across this thread, unfortunately after purchasing an D120 for a 40G breeder.. After reading just for a second I realized I may have purchased wrong light. Can I get away with an D120 over a 40?

Depends what you're trying to grow and how your rock is arranged. My buddy has a D120 (photon 16) over his 40 breeder and it looks and works awesome. You may just have to mount the light higher to get the spread you want. PAR at the bottom will definitely not be an issue.

Anyone running two photon 24" with 120degree optics on a 72"? I'll probably purchased two 32" with 90degree optics just seeing if it might be possible. Pics would be great, thanks in advance!

Ron Im trying to make the transition in the sunrise/set as seemless as possible. This is how I have it set up
06:00
CH1-1
CH2-0
06:30
CH1-3
CH2-0
07:00
CH1-5
CH2-0
07:30
CH1-7
CH2-1
08:00
CH1-9
CH2-5
08:30
CH1-12
CH2-9
09:00
CH1-15
CH2-12

At 7:30 There is a sudden change due to CH2 coming on. Then again at 8:30 once CH1 hits over 10. I know its not going to be perfect and I really like how I have everything set right now but I was just wondering if anyone found a better way of having them ramp up/down (this cycle is the same in reverse for the sunset)

Got a D120 a few months ago and did some swapping of LED's. It is on a 60 gallon tank about 8 inches off the water and a dominant LPS tank. I am looking to go with the newer programmable 24" from reef breeders and would like to know what would be a desired layout for a decent spectrum.

I've never run it 100% (everything would melt), but the 2nd channel by itself (composed of whites, UV's, red's, 420 blues, throw's about 12k -14k look to my eye. Combined with channel 1 (all 460 blues) makes it about a 18k look. I like a 20k - 22k look, so I run my blue channel about 30% higher then my white channel. My lights are as high % as I'm going to take them and I run 70% blue, and 40% white for my noon day.

I never ran my D120 100% but I had a nice 20k look.

Ron, how many hours do you run any % channel 2's?

On my 180g DT I do a 4 hour sunrise (slightly blue), then 5 hours at 90% blue and 40% white, then a 5 hour sunset that is even more blue.

The 40 Breeder is 3' long, right? The D120 should be OK... maybe. It's certainly got enough PAR under the light, that's not an issue IMHO. But how well it reaches out to the ends of the tank is my concern. If you can hang it high enough, you should be OK. The IT2060 would have been a better choice as it's 8" longer. A second D120 would give you the ability to grow any coral you want, anywhere in the tank. I have 2 over my 4' 55g tank.

Good morning. Im having problems with my it2040 version 1.6, it doesnt load my setting after a blackout. in saving my settings, what i do was i went to custom - choose 30-minute interval - set the intensity of channel 1 & 2, then save (hitting the ok button 2 to 3 times) then off to the next time interval, setting the intensity.. so on and so forth until i reach the end, then press preview.. it loads what i save. after exiting the preview it loads what ive set. then i tried pulling the power cord and powering it back again after 10 seconds, it loads the 1 hour setting (default) instead of the 30 minute settings which i earlier saved. what could be the problem?

I don't know how to answer your question, but you don't need to hit "save" after every interval, only after you've programmed the whole light cycle.

Better than mine. I have two photon32's and one saves everything and works fine after a power outage (pull the plug) the other one always defaults back to stock settings. It's like it has no memory at all...

Came home at midnight with moon lights still on. I left the custom settings at factory settings. The controller said CH1:0 and CH2:0. Is there some programming to do a auto moon cycle of sorts? I toggled each light thru settings and back to custom. Moon lightning was no longer on. This was two Photon 24. Both did the same thing. I have date/time set correctly in units. I didn't read the instructions. This is just a picture to show my set up. Not picture of what happened.

I am having the same issue as above, is there a fix etc?

Thanks

Does it save the correct time? If it does, it's not the internal battery and unlikely the memory.

I don't know if this is necessary, but I went to the settings and cancelled the 'factory defaults' before I did my custom set up. I was having the exact same problem as you until I did this on the unit that didn't save thecustom setting after a power outage. It's worked fine ever since.
Hope that helps?

That's good info. I'll check and see if it keeps time and try canceling the factory defaults tonight. Thanks

Just ordered a Proton 24 with 90 degree optics stock layout. Hope I am happy as I was with my D120. By the way..I have a d120 now for sale!! LOL Any idea what is should sell for used? It has 90 degree optics and assorted leds including red, green, UV, violet and 12k and 8k whites. The blues are stock what came with them at the time.
