That Clam is crazy big.

How big is it?

What size was it when you got it and how long ago was that?

How fast does it grow?

There is some very impressive examples of what can be achieved with the led Lighting in this thread. Has there been a consensus yet on what works best for corals and what is the most pleasing to look at? I have been away for awhile after purchasing some twilight fixtures and now that they have failed me, I need to replace them. Question is with what?
Not sure if RB sends down under or can arrange with EG to send direct. I like the idea of the support that RB offers, not sure how that works with me in Australia.
Tank is 108"x30"x26" thinking 3 it2080 or 3 of the new 48" photon.
Appreciate any feedback
Cheers

I purchased it from a fellow hobbyist in Feb. '08 at that time it was almost 12" now its 20" and out growing this tank. This clam has become so large that it can eject water out of the tank and on to the floor, or worse light fixtures. So it must be kept under the center brace. This has led me to plan my next tank build a 4'x4'x3' Plasma/LED build.

Just in the month or two that my clams have been under the Reefbreeders, I've already notice new growth and greater mantle extension than when they were under MH. So far I am very impressed, However it did take some getting use to how dim and warm they looked compared to the MHs I was running. Even though I was getting impressive par reading with the 90 degree optics they still looked dim in comparison. Now instead of the light being spilled into the room the optics focus it into the tank.

I have an issue w/ my photon 16 maybe someone can help me with -

I'm running on custom mode, and it usually goes dark from midnight to 7 AM, which I like. I was up past midnight on saturday and I saw the moonlight kick on full blast. Last night I woke up and the same thing - the tank was glowing bright blue from the the moonlights... I really prefer the tank to go dark at night (it's in my bedroom.)

Any thoughts? I tried setting the 11PM timer to 0 to hope this forces the issue - but I'd rather leave that on low until 12:00 if possible. And that still doesn't answer why they actually get even more intense at midnight.

Thanks -

Did you set every hour you want the light off to 0 on both channels?

Does it save the correct time? If it does, it's not the internal battery and unlikely the memory.

I don't know if this is necessary, but I went to the settings and cancelled the 'factory defaults' before I did my custom set up. I was having the exact same problem as you until I did this on the unit that didn't save thecustom setting after a power outage. It's worked fine ever since.
Hope that helps?

Thanks it seems that worked it now remembers my settings when I unplug it (simulation a power loss).

Myself and my wife thought exactly the same thing. The tank does not look nearly as bright as it did with 250 watt halides. But par numbers have proven otherwise. To tell you the trust I like the look better. I have had my 3x24" photons a week now over a 220 (72x24x30) SPS reef and everything is doing great. Im at half power right now using the graph in this forum. So its only at peak for a short while. Im very happy with them and the color. Cant wait to see what happens long term.

That clam is amazing. My clams are just about my favorite things in my tank.

im looking into a variety of options for lighting a biocube 29..would one of the value reefbreeders suffice?

I think the value fixture would cover your cube with great coverage. I have one over my 37 Gallon which is 30''s long and i have the 90 degree optics on mine. No shadows any where.

ok i have a bit of a problem, i think? i have a 4'x2'x2' 120g and it has two glasses center braces that are hazed, so there is three openings between the two braces. im lost please help!!! i was thinking about getting a photon 48 would that do it for me ?

Hey Ron!?!?! I had asked you if a D120 would fit on a 40G breeder 36 x 18 x 17?

Well it works brilliantly, I switched over from a coralife aqualight pro fixture and have really enjoyed the evergrow unit.

I would say that 36" is probably the maximum coverage for only one unit though.
Here is a video of it up on my 40, although you will have to excuse the video. I am holding it with my hands, so its a little shakey.. I zoom out so you could see the fixture at the 7:00 minute mark.
Also I know my tank is too small for the tang and angelfish, but my water is very clean and I am going to get a 250G within the year so don't bite my head off, the fish are small both less than 3" so they are okay in here for the time being. Thanks for the advice Ron.

Almost forgot, the video comes out looking bluish purple. In person this light is a beautiful bluish white. My phone camera just doesn't fully pick up the blue's properly..

Also, incorporating this light has led me to re-install my heater as seeing as I am having troubles just keeping my water at like 76-77.
