Hello All,
Jumping back in after a 2 year lay off. The bug is too much to resist....lol. I am purchasing a 34 gallon Solana for my office at work ( I'm there more than I'm home). Was wondering what my lighting option were? Need to keep it fairly simple because it's at work but would like to house a RBTA and possibly a clam. These fixtures sound like a reasonable option. Suggestions/Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bill

What can be done to illuminate a 48 inch tank fully? Two 24" photons?
This will all need to fit into a 13" tall canopy. Maybe it is beneficial to have lower intensity lighting at the ends. What do you think the best solution is?

I am interested in this as well. Even though there is a 4' tank optics option available, it seems that those of us with 4' tanks are stuck between models... Photon32/IT2080 being the most cost effective since were paying for a single controller, but 2 Photon16/IT2040s or Photon24/IT2060s being preferred to properly light the outer edges for SPS. We need a Photon42 fixture!

I'm coming from 2 x 400w MH Lumen Brights on my 48" x 24" x 24" (center-brace & 2 rear-overflows). It used to be that tanks in 2' increments were at an advantage with MH because a single bulb was recommend to light a 2' x 2' area. This seems to be changing a lot with LED. So, how much area does a 16" x 8.5" LED fixture with 90* optics cover? I LOVE how bright my tank is under my current setup, and I really don't want to lose any intensity/coverage by going LED.

For a simple solution, the $180 value fixture is one of the best bargains in LED lighting right now. Its the same power as the controllable models.

If you wanted the extra features of sunrise/sunset dimming, moonlights, a remote control, and an adjustable hanging kit, the 16" photon is also great for $310. The 20" Razor works for $389 too.

The 16" fixture covers 24x24. The 32 about 48x24.

One 32" photon is stronger than two 24's, and costs less. With the optics off on the sides, it works the best.

No worries about intensity. I have two 32's on my 125 and its very, very bright. None of my friends with MH setups have ever thought it was dimmer than their MHs at all.

I'm just curious... but how does a 16" x 8.5" fixture cover a 2' square area? Is it due to optics that they are able to accomplish this? Sorry for my ignorance as the LED world is still very new to me, but I'm used to square reflectors (Lumen Bright, Lumenarc, etc...) covering square areas. I'm just having difficult time comprehending the coverage of odd sized fixtures.

You are right. The D120 (Value Fixture... or whatever RB is calling it now) covers a short 2' and about 3'. I had 1 over an 18"x48" tank and even without lenses it just wouldn't do 4'. Now I have 2 and it's great!

A little update- the fixtures will mostly be built by Monday, waiting on the drivers for the D120s. From there, they need to be on for a few days of testing. We will update you guys shortly, thank you for your understanding!

Has anyone done a par reading on a 36inch tank. My next set up is looking to be deep and I was wondering how these d120 were on penetrating 36 with 90* or even 60*?

It was the Chinese New Year and the factories shut down for several weeks.

It was only 2 weeks and it was a couple of weeks ago. I've already got stuff from EG since they got back to work. Personally I think we are hearing a lot of excuses for some rather poor service locally. EG actually asked me where my order was the day they got back to work. I've found their customer service to be very good! :wavehand:

Does anyone have pics of a Photon32 over a 48" tank, or two 24" fixtures? I'm trying to decide which way to go on my 75gal rimless mixed reef. Can anyone give an opinion?

We are reiterating what we were told by them, the same thing happens to us, so keep that in mind. We put our order through just days after the holiday, if they only took a few days to build, they would be shipped out by now. We are working overtime and doing the best we can to get the units out, as is EG. Hopefully production will be in full swing soon, and it looks like that will be the case.

Ah, ok... this is a little easier for me to wrap my head around. So, is it fair to say that these will give decent PAR around 10" out from each side of the fixture? In other words 10+16+10 x 10+8.5+10. I'd love to see someone test this so we can see how quickly the numbers fall off as you move further from the edge of the fixture.

Here's a great example we had back during the Lumen Bright vs. Lumenarc days...

Logan,
So when do you expect them in and will you have a surplus of them??? Will some be going back on ebay as well?

Thank you
