What a nice coral, reminds me of acropora horrida. Does ot have a super strong skeleton?

Thanks, its a plum crazy, one of ORA cultured corals. It has a fairly dense skeleton as far as acroporas go(slow grower) but IME the slow growing acros seem to always be the stronger skeleton sps ,where as the faster growing stags and tables have a weaker skeleton and are much easier to snap or cut.

oh yea.. thats purple!

Yea ,unlike the terd crazy that is really brown, lol

Wow
beautiful color... great!!

TY.

I am more impressed with your comment then any other on this thread given the fact you joined in 2004 and your first post was just now.I assume you waited for the right thread to comment on.Way to abstain, lol.Welcome to the posting world .Feel free to get your post count up here anytime.

thanks for the updates - all I can say is; just awesome

TY bro

your corals are incredible. I stared at that first pic in post #881 for a good amount of time. The colors you are getting are beautiful and the fact that you can capture them with a camera is almost like magic to me, haha. Keep it up, I love visiting your thread.

Dan,

Since I can't make it this year to the Jan swap.... How about some eye candy of that Palmer's Blue Milli? Unfortunately mine didn't make the drive last year, so I need some encouragement why I should drive 600 miles for a winter swap again.

Keep up the great gardening!

Thank you

Beautiful. I have a small frag of the Plum as well. Mine is no where as purple as yours. Where do you have it placed in the tank. Mine is near the bottom because I started to bleach it if I move it higher.

It gets as much light as my Radiums will supply.Strong light and flow to get the dark purple pigments in my dt with low P and N of course

I've read over this thread a few times now. Great tank and I want to say thanks for taking the effort to share your thoughts and the pictures!

Unless I've missed it, what type of algae do you like to grow in your refugium? There seems to be different thoughts on this, and I would like to hear yours.

Also, when doing such large water changes, how do you match the Alk to your DT water? I guess I'm more worried about how do you lower a particular salts Alk to match yours? Raising it is easy I guess.

Thanks again!

Thank you and I have always said I will keep posting if you guys keep looking.

I grow whatever will grow basically.I am not picky with my algea and a mix seems to do best for me.If nutrients are high enough ,chaeteo alone will do best I assume but tends to go stagnant when the #'s get close to zero(P and N)so a mix works best in my system.

The water change water is made up with Io which has a somewhat lower and stable alk (in the 8 to 9 dkg range) and beefed up with cal chloride and mg.The cacl tends to lower the alk a bit more when added and after 24 hrs of aeration and strong agitation ,the # are about what I need.
