Thanks guys, I am glad you guys like them. Alot of time went into machining those rails and I am glad they turned out.

As far as progress, today we mixed the salt with the drums of RODI water I had been storing up throughout the week. Here are a few shots of the progress.

Here is a mixing tool I fabricated. Robs little stir stick wasnt doing the job.

Also, I got the BK cycling tonight. Warming it up for the install tomorrow morning.

That power mixer really had a tornado going in the bins. Mixed the salt in no time.

Great idea. Now if we can make something like that to stir up my zeolite rocks, we can patent it and go into business together......

Haha, just been very busy this past week getting all the loose ends tied up before the plumbing.

Should have it full with water by 4pm our time.

Top notch work! Those light rails are really slick. I take it you fabricated them yourself. Does anyone know of something similar one could buy?

Why not anodize some aluminum? That way she will get the color and you will get the sleek look.

I would definitely dynamat the panels if you do go metal. Even the slightest pump vibration will cause the panels to resonate and be very annoying.

I have been looking into the anodizing. It really looks nice but I am also looking into acrylic. There is some pretty amazing types out there. I looked into that Dynamat you mentioned and it looks like it would be a good idea for backing the panels. Once the system is plumbed I will focus my attention on all the finishing touches of the system. Thanks for the suggestions!

I won't go for acrylic Tim for the skin as after a while, there will be tons of micro scratch over the skin....

Ed, the mixing tool was a steel rod with some sheet metal "strategically" welded to it! There you go again throwing more ideas at me to get into trouble with my wife!

Ed, yes the acrylic is prone to scuffs and scratches but it is very workable material for doing lots of cool things with it. We will see. I still like the stainless idea, and maybe my wife will grow to liking the stainless.

Thanks Reeferhead. Yes I did fab them myself. At first Mcliffy2 suggested using closet rails and I kinda took that idea and applied it to what you see. I have no clue where one could buy something like these as it is very costly to machine due to the 3D cutting involved. However, they would be more affordable if there were no 3D shape on them as this would reduce the machining to a small fraction of the cut time.

Allright guys, after a gruelling 10 hour day of working the tank is finally plumbed and filled with water and rock. I will have some pics up in about 2 hours after we go to dinner and the water clears up a little more.

The tank is now up and running with water and rock. The water is still a little cloudy and should clear up by morning. Still needing to make some minor aquascape adjustments but so far I feel happy that I have pretty much achieved what I envisioned.
