Rimless Aquarium Club

probably...but then with a tight canopy you can also push and pull air through it to keep things cool, with open top you can only really bnlow across yoru water surface and hope the evap is enough to cool the tank down.

Or you could get a chiller!! lol, I porably should but my PG&E is already rediculous

I tried the old push and pull. Canopy was open back If it is open at all, have all fans lowing in. Makes a bog difference. If its totally enclosed is the only time I would push pull the air.

I'm planning on adding a ATI Powermodule (8x80) for my new rimless 150 without a canopy and was wondering if I would need a chiller. The room I'll be keeping it in will have an abient temp of around 75 - 80 during the summer and much cooller in the winter. Equipment wise, I'll be using 2 vortechs (no heat added), a Eheim 1262 return pump (about 95 watts), and probably an alpha 200 (about 40 watts). Let me know what you think. Thanks

I am building a rimless with an external OF. How far down from the top of the tank do you recommend setting the water level. If I decide to use an MP40 I am concerned about water laping over the sides but I want the water level as high as practical.

What tools and materials, besides glass and silicone, are needed to build a rimless tank? I am thinking of building a bigger (210 gallon 72 x 30 x 24 high). 3/4 inch glass, right?

From what I can determine, just a lot of courage. Seriously, that is a very large tank and will take some really thick and heavy glass to construct it. Mine is half that size and I am nervous. Uncleof6 can help you with the glass question.

I have a 48x24x20" which has the water level about 1 1/4" from the top. I have two Tunze Stream 6100s in there that I had to turn down as they would push water hard enough it was getting within 1/16" of the top. I wish I had the overflow built with the water level about 1/2" lower, or I might cutting the fronts of the Tunze to have less direct flow.

not sure if i posted here on rimless tanks but if i did here's my updated pics

Just ordered my rimless today from Miracles.

105g 48x24x21 Starphire

4 weeks away!
You certainly won't be disappointed... I got my rimless nano there and was seriously impressed w/ the build quality. I actually drove to pick it up (4 1/2 hours round-trip sucked, but not worth the $160 to ship a 30G tank lol). Definatly post pics when you get it setup! :D

Looks good. What are the dimensions of the tank? It's funny how the picture makes it look like your light fixture is shorter than the tank.

I am looking to get a rimless tank sometime very soon. I was wondering if LeeMar and Visio are trustworthy companies for a rimless tank (~100gal).

Let me know what you think...

Thanks,
Alex
