I have my alpha 250 in a rubbermaid and an osmolator to control sump level and the osmolator pumps water in if the sump is off by millmeters.

It's really hard to say without running it yet. I can tell you for sure that the BK 300 is an absolute beast!

I am definitely purchasing a new skimmer in the next 30-90 days.
I am debating between the ATB Large, BK 300 Ext, and have been waiting for the larger BK Cone.
It's a tough call.
Are the cones available with a gravity feed/recirc option?
And when do you think they will be in the U.S.?

Pre-order and if things are not to your satisfaction, I'm pretty sure Jeremy will work it out with you so there really is no risk. I'm on the pre-order for a 170 and will change to the 200 if that makes sense once I see the details.

I think I will most likely get the 170. As it hink it wll be closer to what I already tested. I ll have to see the specs are when they come out.

Hi Sean... The recirc models, which will be dubbed as the "Omega" series will not be available until the end of this summer. Any chance that the Alpha 300 would fit into the sump you will have on the system?

It would fit but I am not a fan of in-sump skimmers, water level fluctuations etc.

I am going to MACNA in Atlantic City in September, I finally get to meet you after 7 years and a lot of money.

Will the Omega skimmers be an improvement on these cones, being recirc and all?

Any idea when model sizes and price points will be released?

Sean,

Everyone has their opinion about recirc versus single pass, etc. I can see the arguement both ways too, so it's hard to say which one will really be "better". It will most likely be dependent upon the application, placement in the sump for the Alpha series vs where the water is being pulled from for the feed on the Omega series, and so on and so on.

Most likely specs will not be released on these until late summer, or a month or two before they arrive.

Hey Jeremy,
Personally, my MR-3 with an Iwaki 100 run externally was the best skimmer I ever ran.
I just didn't like all the adjustments I had to make...getting older, wife, kids, career etc.

I love my Deltec and its "set and forget" ability...just have to clean the skimmer cup.

That is why I like the gravity fed recirc's.

Hey Jeremy,
I am in between ordering the 170 and the 200 for my 92 corner. The deciding factor will be the final footprint which I know on the 250 is Base+~8" for the pump. I do plan on eventually upgrading to a larger tank, so the bigger the better.

In the event that I preorder a 170, but the 200 specs come in ok, would I be able to change my order and keep the discount?
