Royal-Exclusiv Alpha Cone - 170 / 200 / 300 Announcement & Pre-Orders!

Now this is just going off BK's in the past. I would suspect they will be pretty close if not the same performance wise. :)

Perisse i would look into the 170. Thats if it were my choice. TIFWIW
I would use the 170 on tanks up to 150 heavily stocked, The 200 on tanks up to 220-250 heavily stocked, And the 250 on tanks up to 300-340 heavily stocked from what i see.
When i mean heavily tocked its just that alot of fish. :)

I agree. Is was hard to say at first as I thought I read these were good for tanks down to about 100 gallons on the Alpha 250. So as time went on I think we have all seen that the skimmer needs more than that. It will be interesting to see the specs on the new skimmers when they come out.

The skimmers are on the way, Klaus just has not emailed the specs over to us yet.

Jeremy

Which skimmer would you recommend for a 40 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon sump.

It's hard to say without having the specs yet, as the 170 could possibly be too big for this system, but that's all dependent upon bioload. If it's a very lightly stocked new tank, the 170 will probably be too much. If it's a really heavy load, quite a few fish (for a 40 anyways), and a heavy coral load and you feed the tank quiet frequently then you would want the 170.

The 250 was tested for approximately 3 months on a system that was 105g overseas, with absolutely no hiccups at all. Keep in mind though that was a heavy loaded, mature system, and the skimmer would pump out the nog.

As most Bubble King uses come to find out, you can not oversize these skimmers. They are very powerful, conservatively rated skimmers, and when you oversize them you just don't get the performance out of them.

I would agree with not to oversize these. As I found out with the 250. These are very well built and have a great pump. I cant wait to see the specs on the smaller two units.

A**H** like you, trying to sell me the 250 knowing that I have a 90 rr like you. I am very happy I did not make the purchase from you. If it was not for LCN (local experience reefer), I would have make a big mistake.

This is comlpetely ridiculous and out of line. Keep comments like this either in private, or to yourself. It's certainly not wanted in this thread in public, nor any other ReefCentral!

I couldn't agree more. Premium aquatics is one of the best companies out there and I highly doubt anyone intentionaly tried to sell you on something you did not need. Furthermore its your responsability to do your research ahead of time before making such a purchase and I dont think Jeremy or anyone in this company would tell you you need a 250 cone for a 90 gallon tank. If you want one thats fine nobodies gonna refuse your order. Lots of people oversize skimmers for there systems. These people are not your babysitters

Anyway, if I ordered an Alpha 300 today would I still recieve it on the first shipment or am I too late?

We still have a few left for the 300's coming in. You would be just fine getting in on the first shipment.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy B.

Why this is out of line? In a different thread, I have asked him would this be too much for a 90 mix. He stated, 170 is be okay, but 200 will gave room for improvement.

Do not get me wrong. I have much respect for him. But for him to turn around and pm saying the 250 will be okay for my system. Which make me believe this 250 will be okay.

Jeremy, I know that you probably defending for him. Do you wonder why he has not say a word? I was planning to make some purchase from you (Geo CA rx package, RK elite, and RE 200). I guess I take my $$$ somewhere else.

Plus nicks387 does not have a clue, talking about research. I am a biochemist, and research is what I do. I have put much effort and patience in this hobby.

reef_corgi,

Coming on here and publicly calling someone else the name that you did, and in the manner in which you did it, should be more than plenty enough reason to say that you are out of line.

If you can't work out any indifferences you have with someone in private, then just drop it. This forum and thread is most certainly not the place to hash it out.

+1 For out of line with the tone of the post. Take it elsewhere. We're here to learn and share information. Please drop it.

+2 play nice

jeremy, by chance, would you happen to know what is the weight limit a solana tank can handle on its rim?

Some Specs Available

Alpha 170
Pump: Red Dragon 1500
Airflow / Waterflow: TBD
Footprint: 12.5" x 7.75" (Could be closer to 11.5" if you cut the silicone coupling down)

Alpha 200
Pump: Red Dragon 1500
Airflow / Waterflow: TBD
Footprint: 13.75" x 8.75" (Coupling can be cut down again for reducing to 12.75" if needed)

Alpha 300
Pump: Red Dragon 1500 x 2
Airflow / Waterflow: 3600LPH Air & 6000LPH Water
Footprint: TBD

This is what I have to go on right now guys. I know most of you were wanting the footprint to decide which way to go. I did confirm that the same motor block will be used on all skimmers, just modifications to the impeller size and volute will be made dependent upon which model you go with.

The water levels for the smaller models have not been confirmed yet. The water level for the Alpha 250 Kone is recommended at 10".
