Royal-Exclusiv Alpha Cone - 170 / 200 / 300 Announcement & Pre-Orders!

Jeremy, I can't decide between the ordering a 170 or a 200. I have a medium-high loaded 110 (fish and mostly SPS) with plans to add even more. Would I be disappointed with the 200? (oversized skimmer syndrome). Would the 170 definitely have enough capacity if I really loaded up this tank?

I just sent Klaus an email on it, will hopefully hear back today.

bigtex52 - The 170 would be the one for you, not the 200. I think you would be oversized with the 200 in my opinion.

Jeremy, any info on the 300 yet? Would like to know what the neck size is and how much room in the sump I would need. When will they be in?

No info on the 300 yet, I'm sorry. I can tell you that the next shipment should be to us on 6/1 or 6/2 of the other models though.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Sounds good, I really like the idea of just changing out the nozzles to change preferred performance. Hopefully the 300 will also have this feature.

Several posts up it says the 170 is 9" x 13.75". Your pre-order page however says it's 7.75" x 12.75". The 200 is 9.8" x 14.75" vs. 8.75" x 13.75".

Which is which?

Go with the numbers on this site. We are changing our site to reflect the numbers posted here. Keep in mind you could probably go just a little smaller, and definitely shave 1" off the large number if needed.

6/1 or 6/2 is the arrival date on the 200's.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Yes indeed, in fact any protein skimmer will leak undissolved ozone from it. This is one of many reasons that I do not recommend running ozone into your proteins kimmer, unless using a beckett / downdraft with a waste collector that has a carbon filter specifically designed for this.

Hmm, ok. I just thought that running ozone on this skimmer is recommended since it has a built-in separate ozone input .

The skimmer is indeed ozone safe, and provides a place for injection. Having said that I would personally never run ozone on it due to the fact that ozone is very harsh, and I would risk running it on a $1,000 skimmer, even if it is "ozone safe". Also, you are going to get a very small amount of ozone leaving the skimmer without proper carbon filtration.

I would only use ozone with a beckett / downdraft skimmer that does not utilize holes in the skimmer lid such as all of the needlewheel venturi skimmers on the market.

And the 170's?

Jeremy,
How many 200 are you getting on the first shipment? Will there enough for everyone if we order soon?

Same question as dzhuo's on the 170's. I want (need) to sell my old H&S skimmer to help defray the cost of the new one.

so the 170's havent even been shipped yet? what happened to available in 2 weeks......over FOUR weeks ago? i don't mind waiting, but i don't like being mis-led. whats a realistic time frame for them and why don't you update your webpage accordingly?
