Is there any news on the smaller cone? Thanks in advance

Yes, I was wondering the same as well. News on the smaller cone would be helpful. I have 60 gallon total volume tank. Will be bringing it on line soon. I've been following this thread somewhat. Just wondering how much longer the wait would be.

Thank you.

From what I've read, the focus seems to be on getting the current model to market. Smaller / larger units in my guesstimation (based on responses from those who are in the supply chain and their previous posts in this thread to similar inquiries) will be down the road a bit. Responses have been ambiguous, but I would say they are months away, maybe this fall or end of the year. Again, this is only a guess. Maybe if they start to sense the demand for the smaller cones, I'm in the market myself) they will work to introduce them sooner. There are other small cones out there already. Don't want to promote them in this thread as it is not appropriate in my opinion but do some looking around on RC and you'll find at least one that is in pretty high demand.

Best Regards,

Salt

SeanT - The ALPHA 300 that is coming will have a 12" base on it, and most likely a Red Dragon 2000 pump, although not confirmed yet.

moondoggy & ronreef - There is no ETA on the smaller ones yet, although it shouldn't be a really long wait. The ALPHA 170 will have a 6.75" base, and the ALPHA 200 will have a 8" base to it. I do not know pump specs or overall heights on these yet.

I know for a fact that the smaller cones will be available before the beginning of summer for sure. That was the definitive word from Klaus.

I'll keep this thread updated as more information comes in to me on the smaller ones.

We are only about a week and a half or so away from the 250's landing here in the US. The 250 was the first brought to market as this one has been determined to be the most popular from overall size of system it can handle (100g - 400g), and price point (Sub $1k to your door if pre-ordering!).

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,

Thanks a bunch for passing that information along regarding the smaller Alpha cones!! It's nice to get some information for those of us waiting to see the models that are probably more appropriate for our smaller tanks.

Keep us posted as you get more details.

Alpha 250 uses the same pump as the Mini 200.
Klaus tested larger pumps on this skimmer & was too much for the body size, this pump works perfectly with this cone.

Sounds good but any time frame-ish? :)

How does the red dragon 1500 differ from the one that is in the BK mini 200?

The Mini 200 utilizes the same motor block as the cone, however the cone pump has a larger volute than the Mini 200. Check out the pictures I posted a page or two back, and you can see exactly how big this front volute is.

Also, keep in mind that there is a Red Dragon 1500 that utilizes a larger motor block on the Super Marin 200, so don't get these two confused.

The larger one is the last one coming. This one will hopefully be to us by the end of May.

THIS WILL BE

THIS WILL BE

MY NEW SKIMMER... for certain! I had been longing to go with an ATB but couldn't make the stretch to get the medium with the upgraded pump. I was gonna go with an SWC cone with the Askoll but, this just makes TOO MUCH SENSE!

How can you pass up this intro pricing??? Even the extra $129 bucks post intro pricing wouldn't be bad for all you get with this new beauty!!!

Pulling the trigger!~

Hey guys, I've had a couple of people ask in the last day or so about preorders and payment. No money is due at all for the preorder! We will only charge your card once the skimmer is ready to ship out. We are getting very close, only a week and a half way or so.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I, too, pre-ordered the Alpha 250. It will be partnered with my SWC 250 A1.

Curious to see how these two skimmers compete with one another. I was going with the SWC 1a but couldn't pass up the Alpha... Nope, couldn't do it:D

Please be sure to post the comparison info and PICS!

Has RE already shipped them? I would think its going to take longer than a week to get here from germany.
