S. Gigantea from LiveAquaria

Wow, another gig not responding to Cipro. I would also try Septra. I would not wait any longer (5 days is waaaay too long) and switch meds immediately. IME gigs respond quickly to treatment if it's working.

Does Septra for aquarium use have a brand name, or are you referring to the one for human consumption? Also, any reliable source to purchase?

I placed the order for Septra yesterday so I should be getting in the next couple days. Im still using cipro until the new med comes in.

Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 800/160mg. USP I purchased it from aquaticpharmacy.com

That is a DS (double strenght) dose. I would does 1 DS for 10 gal initially then dose 1/2 of this dose (Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 400 mg/80 mg) with 5 gal water change every day.

Just a quick update. Its been 4 days and still no positive response to Cipro or E.M Erythromycin. I will be receiving the Septra DS tomorrow in the mail. Hopefully we'll have a positive outcome.

Notify LA and get reimbursed if he doesn't make it.

Tell them what's going on now.

Try amoxicillin or Cefalexin too.

I sent a email to customer support today along with a picture. Hopefully I can get a replacement.

I got the Septra 1 day earlier than expected. So I completed a 50% water change and added 1 whole tablet to the QT. Still no response from the GIG to the new medication. Sorry for the bad iphone pic.

I am still treating but I haven't gotten to the state of your second and third picture.

Just keep treating, he may pull through.

That one was from live aquaria. $299

The mistake I made with him was that I treated him twice and stopped treatment early and returned him back to DT only to find him sick again later.

After third round of Cipro, he had caught what we refer to in the hospital as a "MDRO."

Multi Drug Resistant Organism

He didn't respond to antibiotic therapy at that point and I hit him with everything in the book. He literally melted away. I had gone over the 14 day guarantee, but spoke with them on the phone and sent pics. They gave me a $299 one time credit. Believe it or not, I ordered a bunch of fish with that credit later. No anemones.
