Scotty & Tammy's 4x4x2 SPS tank

Any time my mom would catch me poking sticks down spider holes or bull ant nests she'd say the same thing every time, ' you'll play with the cat until it scratches........'

You Sahin are about to get scratched........:furious:

I didnt mention any names...I didnt even say Gibbles...or Nibbles... :lolspin:

I'm going to move some acros that don't need moving just to annoy you mate

I did my own share of messing with spiders, only I used to catch insects and throw them into the large spider holes; the ensuing battle between various insects and "my pet" spider always kept me busy in the afternoons. :crazy1:

Unlike you Biggles, of course the cat scratched you  ...I used to load up my water blaster gun with water and shoot water at the local cats from the the first floor window...rrrrrannnnnnnnnnoooowwww is all your heard...

Even the locals who thought it was a good idea to smoke near our house got blasted by my gun...but they'd never come up to complain to my mum cos of the wild dog chained in my yard...now that thing was crazy...even I was scared of it...once they bite, they aint letting go without removing a good chunk of your arm...I used to steal bits of chicken and feed it...even the tough guys in my area were scared...Kevin is a wuss compared to my wild dog pet. :p

I must get me one of these water blaster guns sahin!! Also one of these wild dogs possibly a dingo  or maybe I'll just borrow Kevin off of biggles :lolspin:

You know, you guys are a lot of fun to read..
But Sahin... 'Acro bush' .. THAT made me laugh!!
LOVE IT!!

Gotta get me some acro bush............................

I agree Matt, got any pics of this acro bush sahin???? :lol2:

A water pistol............

When i was twelve my father got me a scoped .22 cal air rifle - you didn't hear anything make any noise near my house ever again............even the birds changed their migration route....... :smokin:
I used a handful of cayenne pepper to sort out any local dogs that menaced me on the way to school, your corgi would have hid from sight when i walked by Sahin..........

Matt, you've been married for a while haven't you mate..... :crazy1:

Back on topic - Scotty, as i was saying in our PM conversation, my acros have never looked better since i began doing the complete opposite of anything Sahin does with his reef.

Ah yes I remember this conversation biggles. You thought that sahin doesn't play with his tank enough and there wasn't enough fiddling going on :lolspin:

What is your photo period like? Amazing tank.

Thank you dtum :) Photo period is 9hrs full and 1hr either side for morning/night so 11hrs in total

Is that big blue stag really blue all over like it looks with paler blue tips Scotty. The kind of thing that someone like me could maybe get a piece of one day but someone in the UK will never, ever, ever get a piece of........... not ever...... :)

The tank looks amazing. I am always envious of dense t5 growth. Are you running into any problems with corals shading each other with your lighting? My Tank isn't as densely grown as your and I am having shading problems all over. I'm thinking to add more T5's to light those hard to reach areas :) Actually, if I wasn't so committed to the colors I am getting, I probably ditch the halide and put a dozen t5's over my tank :)

The big blue stag on the right hand side looks good in the pics biggles but it's what we call "the dirty purple" stag. It has a dirty purple/blue/brown colour but it has ice blue tips. The colour isn't overly great but it grows like crazy. The other blue stag on the left hand side is really nice, it's a deep blue all over. Still if you would like a piece I would be happy to send you a chunk of it as it would help me out too :lol2:

Thank you Richard. No mate I've actually been really surprised to be honest as I thought I may run into that issue but I haven't so far. I think having the 16 tubes has really done the trick in that aspect as the spread seems to get into all the little areas. If your having that problem then doing that could help the get into those shaded areas. You are getting beautiful colours Richard and personally I wouldn't move away from MH but as things grow we have to tweak things a little like you said about adding some more T5 for shaded areas, all these things are something we try to factor into our original builds but you never really know until you actually hit that point :)

You got that right. It's aways a work in progress with much to learn. Good to hear that the T5's illuminate all the nooks and crannies. I am using a stock Giesemann MH Spectra so I'm limited to 4 t5's. For now I am upgrading to a higher output ballast to see what difference that makes, otherwise i will have to make a canopy and retrofit in the MH with more T5's "¦"¦. This is a big PITA! :D I am seriously considering putting 2x 6 bulbs ATI sunpowers over it if I get lazy and never make the retrofitted lighting hood :) Thanks for the info.

I have some mates here in Aus that have upgraded to higher output ballasts with success so hopefully it works for you too mate :) I also have a couple of friends with single MH pendants surrounded by a few ATI sunpower, both are very young tanks but I'm expecting good things from them :D

Nice! I love the AV top down portal, got one about 6 months ago and was astounded at how great things looked from above.

For some reason they didn't look this good though. Maybe mine is broken? :D

Thanks markalot :)
It's been the best $100 I've ever spent, it took a little getting used to but I agree everything is better from the top
