SeanT 's 300 gallon Cube-esque project.

I haven't even looked at the clips yet lol.
Thanks for the info, that is a huge load off of my mind.

Wow Sean, heck of a tank build! I'm in the process of building a 60"L x 44"W x 24"H tank, so I will be keepnig a close eye on this thread. I was actually inquiring as to how/what to implement for random flow in another thread, leaning towards waveboxes or streams on the Profilux, and Steve pointed me towards your thread. Do you feel that the two waveboxes, being 48" fron to back, will provide ample "random flow?"

Keep us updated and keep up the great work!

I sure hope so. :)

I also have 8 bulkheads in the bottom going to be hooked up to an OM 8 to provide more random flow as well.

Oh yeah,
I just mailed off the remaining balalnce on the tank.
Hopefully they will ship early next week.
YAY! :D

Yeah me too...well similar.....there are four outlet holes in the bottom for CL returns, and two holes towards the back bottom for the CL "drains," then there are four holes about 2/3 of the way up the back wall for CL returns as well. The inlets on back wall will be aimed down so that ample flow is pushed across the BB, sweeping everythin up and into the overflow (ideally).

I'm kinda stuck right now in that I'm trying to justify the need for OM's to be hooked to the CL's. Your using one CL with an OM 8-way, and I was thinking that, but then wheile talking to Paul he was making me lean towards 2 CL's, with an OM 4-way on both. Since we are implementing waveboxes, and/or streams for random flow, how big is the need for OM's on the CL's? A great point Paul brought up was that if your running the CL's through OM's with the drums that fire 1,2,3,4.... you will be getting the full flow out of your CL pump out of one outlet at a time (which alternates through the OM). Otherwise your getting 1/4 of the flow out of all outlets at the same time (without the OM). I feel since we're running BB, the OM alternating "bursts" along the bottom might be more effective than a linear constant flow along the bottom.

What were the reasonings for you Sean? i'm looking for reasons to justify or nullify the need for $800 more in equipment. Man, these big tanks add up fast

I'm excited that I've found a similar sized tank.....and better yet still in the building phase! Awesome!

Sean Im getting ready to plan for a 60x36''possibly 48x26 setup. Can you email me what they quoted you at for your tank?I was looking at either ATA / Mircales/AGE or since I live 15 minutes from Oceanic Systems letting them build me a tank ''. I'll post a thread as well. Looking forward to seeing more pics of your tank. If your wife thinks you are as crazy as mine does for doing such a high end tank then I feel for ya. I told her oh it would only cost $5000 until I started looking into high end skimmers/lighting etc and got into the high 10,000's to low 13,000's after stocked and finished then she flipped heh :)

Im going with a

60x36x27 Tank ''Dual overflow's'' 3 sided starphire glass
Custom 3 sided accessible walk on and around stand with oak and granite that I'll build mahself ''to help cut costs''HAHA"
150g acrylic sump with built in fuge
Deltec AP902 ''
Deltec PF601 Calcium Reactor
Deltec NFP616 Nitrate Filter
Geisemen 12x54 T5's with 4x250DE halides on all 4 corners
Ocean Motions 4way
2 vortech pumps for added flow

And a bunch of other things I'll buy but probably dont need but its always fun to hear the wife's mouth :)

I am using the 8 way for nothing more than random flow.
Using two of them requires two pumps.
Mine is the 1&2, 3&4 version etc.
I feel two OM's is a waste and then the extra pump, cleaning, double the chance of something breaking down. ;)

Well, I sent the final payment on Thursday and they received it yesterday.
I called up and they are waiting on the packing supplies and it should ship this week.
