Took some time out today to do some business with a couple of top blokes from Sustainable Reefs.
Just imagine having the biggest frag tanks dedicated to producing export frags to the rest of the world... Now that to me is living the dream.
I am glad my wife came along to see first hand another mad SPS keepers wet dream.
The farm was frantically trying to sustain the demand for the Aussie frags , I've seen these Sustainable frags in some LFS around Australia however the Japanese, UK and US seem drain our limited supply.
From following the progress of the farm for a while , I remember a shipment arriving in Stockholm in great condition.
A quick behind the scene tour of the pump/filter room saw me let in on full scale production as to colouring up these frags. Christian was keen to share his knowledge with me.
Out the corner of my eye I spied his version of Biggle juice, had a good chuckle about that too.
We then looked at the mother colonies and then the fun began...
First up we got Strawberry shortcake moved to the Holiday Tank holding rack. I think that was just to get the hands wet...
Then Chris went straight to The Firetruck acro, I was almost speechless , I stood there stunned and amazed for a second as I admired something I never thought I would get my hands on... To the holiday rack that went
I said lets get some Tenius acro and so we did. After a little while I think Chris read my mind as he brought me to another of my all time Wishlist acro, Tierra del Fuego.
I also got my hands on a wicked colour Dragon, hahaha!
Now - Chris just keep on cherry picking some more stunners for me whilst I'm up in Port Douglas for the next few days.
Yes the highlight of the long drive up the coast was today - to cherry pick some sticks.
Now as with all SPS nuts-we have setbacks and I must warn that the following pics are of brown sticks as the farm had some pump / filter issues I witnessed whilst there.
Never mind they will be back on track with full blown colour sticks for export in no time at all.
First the holiday tank rack starting to fill up.
One of many aquaculture ponds
Cheers to Rick and Chris for letting me visit the operation today .
Looking forward to the consignment of Aussie frags shipped to Sydney in a few weeks time and settling in to the holiday tank.
