Serenity Reef

The Holiday tank has had no water changes since strike up and sits on 7dKH.
With NO3 and Phos reading 0.00 on 1/2/16
I let those levels rise to the below pictures on 27/2/16

On 27/2/16 I added 10 litres of Siporax and removed all my live rock.
Replacing the rock with some Pagoda Rock for the Multi Colour and Fireball Angel to use.

The holiday officially begins for both me and the tank 29/2/16
Gone to Fiji for some relaxation...

You bastard Nils.............

Here is the photo on 13/2/16

So whilst the Siporax is doing its thing for 3 months I have decided to continue the holiday and explore the East Coast of Australia.
Here is a photo I took yesterday at Treachery Beach , NSW.

Took some time out today to do some business with a couple of top blokes from Sustainable Reefs.

Just imagine having the biggest frag tanks dedicated to producing export frags to the rest of the world... Now that to me is living the dream.
I am glad my wife came along to see first hand another mad SPS keepers wet dream.

The farm was frantically trying to sustain the demand for the Aussie frags , I've seen these Sustainable frags in some LFS around Australia however the Japanese, UK and US seem drain our limited supply.
From following the progress of the farm for a while , I remember a shipment arriving in Stockholm in great condition.

A quick behind the scene tour of the pump/filter room saw me let in on full scale production as to colouring up these frags. Christian was keen to share his knowledge with me.
Out the corner of my eye I spied his version of Biggle juice, had a good chuckle about that too.
We then looked at the mother colonies and then the fun began...

First up we got Strawberry shortcake moved to the Holiday Tank holding rack. I think that was just to get the hands wet...
Then Chris went straight to The Firetruck acro, I was almost speechless , I stood there stunned and amazed for a second as I admired something I never thought I would get my hands on... To the holiday rack that went :D I said lets get some Tenius acro and so we did. After a little while I think Chris read my mind as he brought me to another of my all time Wishlist acro, Tierra del Fuego.
I also got my hands on a wicked colour Dragon, hahaha!

Now - Chris just keep on cherry picking some more stunners for me whilst I'm up in Port Douglas for the next few days.

Yes the highlight of the long drive up the coast was today - to cherry pick some sticks.

Now as with all SPS nuts-we have setbacks and I must warn that the following pics are of brown sticks as the farm had some pump / filter issues I witnessed whilst there.
Never mind they will be back on track with full blown colour sticks for export in no time at all.

First the holiday tank rack starting to fill up.

One of many aquaculture ponds

Cheers to Rick and Chris for letting me visit the operation today .
Looking forward to the consignment of Aussie frags shipped to Sydney in a few weeks time and settling in to the holiday tank.
:p

I thought I disliked you before because you can just go holiday in Fiji.

Now I'm really sure I dont like you.

All jokes aside, glad to see you're still moving forward on the tank. It looks like you'll be running a gorgeous sps system in no time.

Congrats on the beautiful corals.

Hahaha, you might change your mind again as today heading to Agincourt reef on the far fringes of the Great Barrier Reef for a day of snorkelling -
Should be a great day as the weather looks fine and the tides are perfect too.

+1

Well the good news is there is still plenty of colour out on the reef fringes.
The bleaching signs are there and signs of previous bleaching events.
The GoPro certainly got a work out today.

Very nice. I'd love to have access to such a large aquaculture facility. Were they using NSW? What about daily water changes, or are they using a crazy big skimmer?

Hello sahin, yes from what I could spy it was NSW - did not think they did daily water changes , saying that thier filtration was on another level , huge calcium reactor , epic CO2 bottle ,they were running a very fine filter sock compared to me ( I use 100 -200 micron )
And the current skimmer is just over 6 foot tall run by a huge pool pump motor.

I am sure you would have seen the thread.
If not the first page is enough to make you weak at the knees.

They say a picture says a thousand words , in this case I see my beaut multi colour angelfish maturing nicely, the tank must be running well as not only is the colour good on the fish , the Algea seen is growth from when I left as fish tank sitters were instructed not to clean the glass. BTW the skimmer was turned off as well to make it easy for the fish feeders. Furthermore lighting was set to replicate normal photo periods.
I think I am excited because the investment in Siporax looks like it's paying off. Photo taken by my neighbor.

Nils,

I hope it burns when you pee.

Sincerely,

MaxxII

Glad the tank and the angels are doing well. How many liters of Siporax do you have in the tank?
