my tank...
Picture245.jpg

36x24x20

omg, this is exactly what's in my mind. I got the same ATI powermodul (6x39W) and i am tunze controller 7095 with two tunzes.

Coseal, care to share with me how many nanos are there in your tank? I will be going for
36X30X20

i intend to reuse my previous tank equipments:
H&S A200-2x2001 External Protein Skimmer up to 325g
Tunze 7095 and two wave-makers tunze 6000.
ATI powermodul 39W x 6. ( i have a 3ft lightset with three mh bulbs but i will give it a miss due to the heat)
aquamedic ozone
artical 1/4 hp.
Aqua medic Ocrean runner 6500 (return) and one ehiem around 3000l for the chiller pump.

Is the above equipment an overkill for the 36x30x20 tank esp for the flow rate? may add a seaswirl. now is the planning stage and the setup will commence around June. :)

Please advise

The return pump is too big the rest is cool, are you sure you need a chiller?

I lived in Singapore the avg room temp is around 26 - 30. I want a chiller to keep lps.
maybe i should do a split for the Return Ocean runner 6500.

nice tank

That coral flat Is not cheap I paid just a bit more and got rimless and thicker acrylic plus James at envision does a great job polishing the tank his shipping is not cheap though.

Great tanks! To answer the questions a few pages back... :o

I use 50/50 KZ Reefers Best Premium and Red Sea Coral Pro.

I have some LR in the sump and a few rocks in the tank. I also incorporated the small RDSB from my previous tank in this tank. I don't have a Refugium or use Zeo etc.

Any tips on readily available low cost containers for shallow tanks?

I'm using underbed storage boxes (we exist too, you rimless top notch tanks! ;) ), small and big, for shallow tanks to check, will it easier maintenance or not, and not happy with the height - 6", too low to make a flow above corals, and 12" glass tanks are too high for my purposes. Do you know anything 8" high or so, not custom?

Function before fashion, you know:
6g sun corals tank, from Rio nano skimmer - to ASM G-3:

Another one, 15g underbed storage box, high light for Christmas tree rocks, clams, sps:
first day:

Later (acts as turf algae scrubber by itself, alas, but has zero nitrates and phosphates, usually):

Pain to make a photographs from the top.

Another short-term solution, 4g container for large LPS. Did fairly well there, until found them the better home:

Previous version of Christmas tree rocks tank, too high (12") and narrow (12"), in progress:

Hello All,

I'm in the process of having a tank built and am unsure on what height to go with should I go with 16" or 24"? I want to keep my sailfin tang, but I'm not sure it 16" in height would be enough.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

I'm having glass cages build the tank and thy said they would charge the same for a 20" as a 24" deep tank. I think I'm going to go with a 48x48x16 which is a 175 gallon. I hope to have it by next month.

It depends on how tall you are and whether you want to get your arm pits soaked every time you put your hands in your tank.
