Shallow reef tank Club

I've been looking at a shallow tank for a little while. I would like 36x30x16, I got 1 quote for $600 shipped (acrylic) or glasscages 36x24x16 rimless for $411 also they have 36x36x16 for $530. Have not heard back from envisionacrylics, any other places I should check. What size should I go with? I'm thinking 36x30 but for $200 extra I'm not sure it would be worth it.

I am no expert but from what I've read, the constant glass cleaning on the front of the inside of the tank takes a toll on the acrylic tanks. Also, do your prices reflect the final cost after the holes are drilled or would you DIY it?

the acrylic has external overflow, the glass I would drill using glassholes overflows. They have a very small footprint instead of a large overflow box, that would add $100 to any glass tank

perfecto, aka marineland, makes a 70g shallow 30x30x18 cube. not braceless, but very nice finish, and priced very well.

there are a few finally being set-up, you ca find them with an rc or web search.

i see them. There looks like a lot of good sizes of tanks and good sumps too. Seems pricey but I think this territory (reefing) is pricey.

The glassholes.com folks: can you get any size overflow you want or do they just suply the means to drill your overflow or return holes?

I can finally join the club. Here's mine. 60x30x20 LeeMar. It's a 3 sided starphire, Euro braced, with a corner overflow.

Here's my equipment list
Lighting: ATI 8 x 54 watt PM
Flow: 2 Vortech MP40w and Eheim 1262(return)
Skimmer: Warner Marine K2 with Red Demon PW
Controller: RKL with 2 PC4 and SL1 with DA float switch for ATO
Chiller: hopefully won't need one.
Dosing: 2 Drew's dosers controlled by RKL

Now I see what is going on. Thanks a lot. I really like that idea. Now, you can really customize your tank if you don't like the stock overflow or want one the way you want it and not how the tank fabricator thinks a reefer wants it.

The right ones are Japanese spot lights-while the left one are simple CFL's that I have while I decide to go LED or MH
