Those look like the Iwasaki par36 lamps (6,500K and 20KK). Am I right?

But I have some deep blues on the way from Japan

I thought I would add my 2 cents worth to this very informative thread.
I will be upgrading from my current AP24g nano tank to a 150g shallow reef.
The dimensions are 72" x 30" x 16" tall
I am using a 45g long tank for my sump refugium
I currently have a Mag24 as a return pump
My skimmer will be an ASM G3
Lighting will be 3 - 250w MH with lumenarc style reflectors
The tank is drilled a bit oddly, so I had to do some work to make sure I did not end up with a flood if I lost power.
I finished up my plumbing today and did a freshwater test on tank and all the plumbing connections. So far, so good.

Thanks for looking
Winland
How tall is the stand? Looks good.
Wow winland ,that is a real nice looking set up. And I love those dimensions
on the tank. Thanks for sharing ,and hopefully we will get to see more again as you get it filled out.
Do you not have the traditional overflows? I did not see them. Do you just drain return llines directly into the sump?
Also, is that a regular hose going into your tank? Is it tap water?
Thanks.

I have seen this designation in the stores.
What does Par36 reference? Actual par number?
Thanks
You are correct, there are no "traditional overflows". There is a drain pipe in each back corner that goes directly down to my sump/skimmer area below.
You are correct, again, as to the hose. It is a normal hose and normal tap (well) water that I am using to do a water/leak test on the entire system. The water was drained out the next day and the tank cleaned, prior to adding sand and saltwater.
just ordered a 48x24x16 and a 20x16x8 frag tank, both acrylic. so i can join in a couple weeks![]()
I guess I can join up, this is my 40 breeder. 36x18x17. I have a 30g sump w/ fuge, run 4 t5's, mag5 return on a 1/2" seaswirl, and a pair of k-nano's. Its a full mixed reef with everything from softies to acros with a single derasa clam and some outcroppings of macros that I let go until they need to be trimmed back. My favorite part is the monti cap on the left that has developed a perfectly straight edge from the mag float going by daily and not letting it get near the glass.

1 Pistol Shrimp who lost his goby a while ago for unidentified reasons.

Cubs:
Will you join the two tanks together? Or, would that deferat the purpose? Where do you order your tanks? LFS? Local company?
Thanks.

Dear UNIU:
Great tank! I have a newbie question: How do you attach softies to the live rock or to the bott. of the tank? For that matter, how does one go about attaching a SPS or an LPS to the rock? I see sometimes the frags come with a big disk base. That base doesn't look good. Do they get overgrown after a while?
Thanks.

for soft corals, Ill wedge the rock they are on or the coral itself into a crevice, maybe using some rubble to wedge in with it, and they just take hold and grow out. For sps, ill glue it directly onto my liverock with super glue or reef epoxy. If it is on a plug, ill find a place that the plug will wedge in or glue on easily and then let it grow over. Takes a little while but they do cover everything over. I dont have anything on the bottom by itself, they are all on rocks. that one front and center is a couple of pieces of tonga branch that have been covered in pink/orange star polyps.
