Shallow reef tank Club

49.3 x 31.4 x 11.8 for us Americans not on the Metric system.

Your tank looks great. That thing looks filled to the rim or is it just the waves?

Just picked it up last night - 36" x 18" x 12"

Maybe we just got lucky?

I've heard so many mixed opinions about them, but after talking with them on the phone for a bit it was easy to make the decision to go with them. Like I said the product is great and I even had an opportunity to check out some of the other tanks on the truck that people were picking up, ranging from very small to very large their product and quality of product is very good and very consistent.

Nice tank tswifty! Who built your tank if you dont mind me asking? Im currently trying to find a local builder to do a 4x24x24 rimless acrylic but most are hesitant to do it without some type of bracing.

i am also looking into getting a shallow tank, 48x18x12 comes out to about 45G? I have a few questions:

-how thick should i get the acrylic to be? i would like to use my vortech in this
-should it be braced?
- how do you do the waves in a shallow set-up? should the water line be about 2 inches below the lip?
thanks

Just bc of the 48"L i would use atleast 3/8" braced. This aught to be enough, I have seen people use 1/4" but i would not recomend it. Plus it looks so much better with ticker material.

I do waves in my shawllow reef 16" height.... i just keep the wave real small about 1/2 swell. My water level is 1" below the top of the tank but its braced so all the splash stays inside the tank.

Hope this helped some.

Heres a pic of what I'm building right now. Almost have it completed as of tonight. 24 x 24 x 12.

You and I are only a few that can say that about Glass Cages. I had zero problems from them.

i haven't used them yet but i'm leaning that way, first of delivery location is 10 minutes from my home. i emailed them a quote for a rimless tank 30x24x20
they quoted a nice price and cabinet, which came out to about 600.00

still waiting one from miracles
