I love this Shallow Reef Tank Club Forum. I have been following this club for a while now and it has inspired me to have one of my own. I have a 10' by 5' by 14" sitting in my garage itching to getting it up. hopefully will get some picture and build soon.

A 40 gallon breeder has great dimensions for a tank of its size imo. Seeing one of those setup as a reef tank for the first time is what made me want a shallow tank.

You going fishless MrKite24 and is that some sort of milli acro growing out on the right side by the vortech?

I actually have a pair of maroon clownfish and a starry blenny. I'm moving in July/August and I'm hoping to get a fish or two more after the move.

Yup, that's a purple millipora. After 2 months of vodka dosing it now has blue tips, too. :)

hi i will get this friday my shallow tank 60x30x16 i need advices on led lightes how many i need, and the sand is problem on the shallow tanks, like the flow of the wares pulling the sand out? any advices i will help me

I'm posting a little early but here it goes. I built this tank this last weekend I still need to do the overflow and build a stand its 48x24x14 I wanted to go rimless but ended up eurobracing anyway just for piece of mind when it comes to my 4yr old and his insistent throwing of small objects. My plan is to change over my 72g bowfront sps tank to this tank.

I am getting ready to build a new rimless myself. The last one I built I used Momentive RTV 103. It was difficult to work with because it skims over so fast. I actually had to do the tank twice, what a pain. What did you use and do you have any tips? It looks like you taped the seams, that works very well.

I used dow 999-a black it worked well for me. The tank is doing great actually got TOTM on another large reef forum last month. I was honored to get it since my tank was only 2 months old. You can view the whole tank build ot CVReefers if you have any questions. Here's an updated photo of the tank.

I've been watching this thread for a long time but I can finally join now. I picked up a 48x24x12 euro braced tank, 2 stands and a 6 bulb t5 light earlier today. It is my first shallow tank, my first sumped tank and my first larger tank, so needless to say I have a stupid amount of reading to do.

I think I'll start on page #1 of this thread for starters.

Nothing to see yet, but I pick this tank up tomorrow after about a year of trying to convince my buddy to sell it to me... :)

60x40x20" should hopefully keep me quiet for a little while...
