Should I get a Pistol Shrimp?

Hello everyone,

I have a 75 gallon which houses among other things a white watchman goby and another white goby with larger orange spots. They each have their own "hideout" and have been in the tank for maybe two months. I am thinking of getting a pistol shrimp for one (or both) of them. Have they been established too long without one to add one? Has anyone had bad experiences with pistol shrimp?

yes,
but only if you have a sandbed.
Mine has piled up a 4" deep mound around it's cave

I have a ssb of 1-2 in. I have noticed one of the gobies piling up sand to an extent, but not 4"!

One vote for yes.

I have the same thing, or had, only about 1-2" ssb.

I don't know where the sand came from.

part of the mound is a piece of LR that he lives under

I had my goby (orange spot) for about 6 months before I got the shrimp
they paired up almost immediatly, (within 1/2 hour)
