Davocean, thanks for the how to and nice back yard. Thanks for all the help and advice today, its appreciated.

Awesome, love it! Though i think its screaming for a few of those sps frags to be attached!!

Thanks robs.mark! It is screaming for some SPS... The tank is roughly five months old, so I've not yet added SPS yet. I've not set up my two part dosing, so Was going to wait on that.

No prob, and thanks.
I'm pretty sure there are 2 of these threads or at least another that is similar on here, cause I posted pics on one in the past.
I was looking for those pics on here, didn't see them, figured I'd add to it.
I like to look at other people's way of doing things, take a little from each and combine different technique's to do something I can call my own.

OP here -
Very nice postings, everyone. some of you have excellent skills -
I think i'm liking the pillars look more and more.

Here's mine. I have to cover up my pvc. I'm thinking of using GSP. But its changed a little since that pic was taken. And I still need to figure out how to make it less 'ugly' with all the darn cords hanging out. And the koralia is gone completely now-vortech moves enough water!

Wow! all the great aquascaping pics! Where does everyone order or purchase their acrylic rod? Which is better, acrylic or PVC pipes? I'm gonna get my new tank in about a week and am planning to aquascape using acrylic, but if pvc pipes are good enough then why not, probably cheaper too.

I get mine from scrap bins at acrylic suppliers near me.
PVC works too, but bigger diameter, need bigger holes drilled, sometimes that breaks rocks, and I also like to be able to heat/shape acrylic rods.
Many also use fiberglass road markers that can be found at HD.

my pillar came down. oh well, right?

Like fell down?
That is another reason I prefer acrylic, the flat base adds stability.
I'm still amazed mine held up when we had that earthquake on Easter Sunday last time around.
I'm sure there are ways to modify strong base on PVC and fiberglass rods too though.

Nah. I decided to try to change something....

THEN it fell down.

THEN I decided that I liked something else better...
