Show off your T5 run (non Zeovit + similar) SPS tank please

I apologize if I hijacked your thread. He has a nice tank that is obviously run with very little technology or additives and I am interested in being able to do the same. The simpler the better for me. Less expense.

awesome tank Sana,
been looking at doing an algea scrubber myself.
Was wondering if you top up your calcium and alk or does the reactor keep up??

Thanks,

Jim

I love threads like these that just blow all the HARDCORE SPS Barebottom, Deltec Skimming, Tunze Flowing, Metal Halide Loving, (you get it)... guys outta the water! haha...

I totally agree with this Thread Sanababit.... Your right on the money with what you said, LOW PO4 Levels , good lighting, and Stable Alk,Ca levels are the way to go!

Just responding to the original question, we do not dose anything aside from two part recipe #2:

Sana -

When you clean the algae turf scrubber screen, do you detach the screen from the PVC pipe and clean the screen outside of the sump?

I am surprised that algae still grows when you have both phosphate remover and activate carbon running 24/7. My chaeto tends to disintegrate after awhile with phosban and activate carbon running in my sump.

Nice tanks everyone!

My little t5 lit nano. Nothing except waterchanges and b-ionic. mind the abundance of LPS at the bottom

Thanks.

I feed my LPS mysis to occasionally boost nutrients for them. My lighting is as follows:
Tek light 24"
-ATI blue plus
-UVL super actinic
-ATI aquablue special
-ATI blue plus
in that order from front to back.

The ATI blue plus run for 7.5 hours a day. The UVL and the Aquablue run for 3.5 hours per day.

I have no fish which (in my opinion) makes keeping SPS far easier.

Thanks Dan, that's good to know (about the photoperiod). I too run a 4x24 TEK, and it's hard to make direct photoperiod comparisons to 6 or 8-bulb setups. I have always run a MUCH longer photoperiod than you and many others do (generally 2 bulbs for 12 hours and 4 bulbs for 8-10 hours). I really need to try cutting it back, as some of my SPS are much paler than they might otherwise be, and I am generally a failure with acans and favia.

Sahin, great thread!

amazing just running a scrubber with a skimmer! i'm running the same sys also but NO3 ain't hitting 0!

Any other advice?
