Shrimp ID

Does anyony know what kind of shrimp this is? Some species of Lysmata perhaps? Sorry for the bad pics, I took them with my phone in a LFS...couldn't get it to focus correctly.

The body is similar to a blood/fire/scarlet cleaner shrimp. It is opaque white (not totally transparent like a Anemone Shrimp) with red stripes and what looks like yellow organs. This one was approx 2.5 inches long.

Yes, that's a better good guess but without better pictures & knowing where it came from we can't do better than a guess.

There is a group of shrimp from Hi and other indopacific islands in the genus Parhippolyte called candy cane shrimp, look up under that name and you may recognise what species is is, the most common is P. mistica but without knowing where it came from that is only a guess.

Looking at your photos I am more sure now, some of the identifying features is the yellow behind the head, the discription in J.P. Hoovers says opaque, 5 to 6 red stripes and bright yellow overies visible under head of females visible, and an adult size reaching over 2 1/2 inches.

Parhippolyte Mistica seems to be right on the money! Thank you! I have been trying to ID this on my own for a while now but have been looking in the Lysmata family. Now if I can only find where to order one...

I have looked at a bunch of online vendors and can't seem to find this species (Candycane Shrimp / Parhippolyte Mistica). Does anyone know if/where they can be ordered? Is there a reason that they are not more available in the trade?

I am almost 100% sure that it is a Kuekenthal's Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata kuekenthali). It is in the same family as the cleaner and peppermint shrimp. Reef safe.

It is very close but it looks like Lysmata Kuekenthali has more red than the Parhippolyte Mistica, although this could be just a variation on the photographed individual. Can anyone verify which species it is? ...if either.

I am probably going to have to go back and get a better picture.
