So Cal Reefers FTS Thread...

Here is a shot I took of mine just yesterday. It is really starting to look good now that I have moved some of my coral into it. Can't wait to see what it looks like in about a year!!

Give us some more info on your LED build if you can. Thanks!

I got them from rapidled dot com. So far it has 3 pendants of 12 LEDs. Mounted on heatsinks from heatsinkusa dot com. Then I mounted 2 computer fans on each one to keep them cool. I plan on getting 2 more pendants. Plus my frag tank has one pendant of 12 over it

This is what my tank used to look like, the tangs were given away to a friend that has given them a new home

But the last 2 years have been a difficult time for me both financially and personally and my tank suffered :( but things are better now and I have time and money to devote to my tank again :). My tank really started to go down hill when I moved into a new house which unfortunately required extensive electrical work to be able to handle my tank so my tank sat in my old house which I could only visit once a week (if I was lucky) to take care of it. I had a severe hair algae outbreak due to a poorly functioning and damaged skimmer as well as bad water. I lost quite a few mushroom corals and all of my zoa colonies :( but life goes on and now I have a new setup and am anxious to get it back up to what it was. Here are the specs for my setup:

135 gal tank with center overflow and 2" unrestricted drain
50 gal sump (got a stock tank from OC farm supply and it works perfect)
AquaC EV 240 skimmer and mag drive 18 pump
custom hood with 3 175 watt 12000K MH bulbs
Eheim canister filter used as a carbon reactor
3 gallon kalk reservoir

I am not finished with building the cabinets around everything due to not having the time available but I am slowly getting everything finished.

DT dimensions 48"x18"x24"
Flow in tank one MP40, koralias both 750 gph, and two bulk heads that pump at the head 700-825gph
Return pump: Quiet one, it works buddy
Filtration: Aquamaxx 200, two BRS reactors, running gfo and carbon. Chaettomorphia in a refugium with a deep reef mud base and small pieces of LR, the return goes into the Sock filter first then to everything else
Sump 30"x12"x16"
3 part doser: bubble Magus works cool as long as you test often, I go thru tests like mad.
Salt: DD H2O salt for the past 6 months.
Prepared food and frozen mysis, and other homemade foods, work leftovers and pellets.
WC every week for the past 5 months without fail.
Lighting Aquailluminations 3 SOL blue modules in a zig zag pattern in an open top canopy.
JBJ 1/3 chiller in fish room disconnected as of October 18th LEDS baby.
APEX controller: controls heater, fans in canopy, thats it for now, havent finished maximizing what it can do stupid chiller and the VDM for the lights not out yet.
