Are you also dosing Microbacter7 or another form of bacteria?

I have a similar system volume and dose 5 drops a week of Lugols and about 10 drops a every other day of Coral amino.

Watch you tank closely for any sign of excess nutrients(diatoms on sandbed, glass, etc) If diatoms start to rapidly appear then you will need to cut your dosage of Coral amino in half and then dose accordingly.

No sand to watch for diatoms....Barebottom all they way!!!! Even the refugium. I didn't pick up any microbater b/c the store where I bought the other products was already about twice what I can get it for online. I haven't dosed any bacteria though....just vodka and vitamin c since day 1. I do weekly 10% water changes religously though with Red Sea Coral Pro. I picked up a few more cherry pieces of SPS today though for my reef.....ORA Blue Voodoo Stag(2 1/2"), ORA Blue Mili(1 1/2"), ORA Rose Mili(1 1/2"), and ORA Joe the Coral(3 1/2").

Just wanted to say thanks for letting me stop by and check out your tank today Sunny. The tank looks awesome! Your pictures online are very good but still don't capture how good the tank looks in person. You have definitely convinced me to give Vodka/Microbac7 a try in my tank. Can't wait to see what your tank is going to look like in a year or two. Keep up the great work!

It was great having you over today and hopefully that blue stag grows out well for you. ;) You find anything good at Tropicorium?

I use Kent's Lugols solution and for vodka I use Mohawk brand 40 proof.

Yeah, if that stag keeps the blues it had in your tank it should be a sweet piece! I didn't end up purchasing anything at Tropicorium mainly because my tank is full. That is one hard place to find though. :)

What are your thoughts on Microbac7 versus Bio Digest (Prodibio) for a bacteria source?

Lots of light and the blue should stay. ;)

I liked the MB7 better than the Bio Digest simply because I could dose it daily as opposed to every two weeks. I noticed better results with daily dosing along with positive reactions from my tank.

Alright, MP7 it is then. Are you also dosing Brightwell for your AAs?

Yeah, using Brightwell's Coral Amino. Just be sure and start out slowly with it as it is easy to overdose with it.

Hi Sonny,

When your colors start to lighten a bit with the start of vodka dosing, what was your remedy for this?

I've been doing the vodka/mb7 for 2 months now with great results but I wish some of my colors were a little more deep.

Alright, just placed my order. I may be giving you a call before I start dosing though. :)

Sounds good. You have my number so dont be afraid to call me up. I am always happy to talk reef. :D

T5nitro is correct, you will need to pick up some form of Amino Acids or simply feed your fish more in order to keep the corals colorful and fed.

From my experiments so far with MB7 and Vodka it is becoming clear that it is essential to either feed your tank more or dose AA's in order to keep your corals growing and healthy.

About 3 weeks ago I started feeding more along with dosing of AA's as my SPS growth had slowed down. I believe that because my water was so clean it was starving out some of the corals leading to slower rates of grow. I have been feeding my fish everyday now as opposed to every other day as I was before. I have also started up AA's in hopes of keeping the SPS well fed. So far it is going well and I wont know the full extent of the changes until about month from now.

For everyone out there using MB7 and vodka, keep an eye on your corals and levels. Once you hit 0 on your No3 and Po4 you will need to feed more OR cut back on your vodka dosage.

Sonny,
What dosage are you using for the MB7? Wondering if you've deviated from the bottle instructions based on the look of your tank. I know it must be posted in here somewhere but after 20 pages I gave up looking.
