Here is my stock list for the 625g, curious to what others think? Should I add or take something off the list? The fish with astrics beside them are a "maybe" fish

Will be ordering the first round of fish in a few weeks as soon as the 125g QT cycles. Haven't decided if I'm going to setup another 125g for the second QT or the 220g. Idea is to QT groups of 12 or so fish at a time, depending on what it is.

I know the list is large but I also know I won't end up with all the fish on the list. Some are hard to come by and others like the pyramids I know I won't find any place that can send me 12 at once. Apparently no one catches small golden puffers for whatever reason so that's also off the list

Zoinks, 12 pyramids. Was all I could do to end up with just three. A trickier fish than generally reputed IMO. Will be an awesome journey though.. All fished out in my 265, sad to say. GL.

I know they are no walk in the park. If I wanted to end up with 12, I would have to get 18 or more expecting 6 at least not to make it. Haven't ever seen more than 4 in a tank together. This is why this forum is great. I have these conversations in my head but we all know how that turns out. How many fish do you have in your 265 Simon? I feel like 50 something fish is a lot, but know others have smaller tanks with similar fish populations

Hello

I think you start a FOWLR Tank. What's about a group Chaetodon similarvatus.

Griffis is to similar to bandit.

Greetings Torben

Are you not a fan of wrasses?

I am a fan of wrasse, the real issue is I lack knowledge on wrasse most of all out of the fish available to our hobby. The DT will be bare bottom with a few wrasse dens located in the tank. I do have a melanarus currently that is 4 years old that will make it into the DT but so far that's it. I'm open to suggestions. Tank is euro braced but I worry about jumping and having enough sand/wrasse dens. Achilles, the tank will be fish oriented with some softies, LPS and SPS non of witch will bother me if they get picked at or eaten. I almost forgot I have a Golden Semi now but Caribfan is holding onto him until
I'm ready, I might purchase the other one he has too

I am definitely on the heavily stocked end of the spectrum (many would likely judge my tank to be overstocked ). At most recent count I'm at 44 plus or minus one or two. Not as many larger fish as you propose though, with my five tangs, three pyramids, and dusky wrasse as the only big ones. All others are medium or small. It's always about trade offs though. My 265 was growing SPS really well until the fish load got high, now not so good growth. Fortunately, I like fish more than SPS.

BTW, one of my emerging faves is the resplendent anthias. I have a shoal of 10 or 11 that hangout together. If I had more space, I'd go for 30 or so. They aren't problematic feeders like some anthias, stay small, and in the presence of larger fish like tangs will shoal.

Dmorty. Is the new build glass or acrylic. I have an acrylic 320 and have made multiple wrasse ( sand dens) but have never had the guts to put them in the tank for fear of scratching the acrylic. So far it's limited me to just flashers and fairies

Simon, I like the resplendent idea. Jasanden, it's acrylic but I haven't really thought about the possible scratches associated with the sand. I guess that's what they make scratch removal kits for if need be. So I'm leaning away from the yellow tangs and possibly the purples. Will just stick with the black. Somehow I left a Achilles off the list but that will be the last fish added. Thinking about 4-6 pyramids if any at all since they are difficult and not easy to find in groups. I would love a Clarion but everyone I talk with tells me they are mean as they come as adults

No purple tangs?! Really? I loved the idea of a trio of purples. What an amazing fish list.

If you are keeping tusks (i.e. no shrimp), why not a cool large wrasse - moon, banana or red coris? I went to the Aquarium of the Pacific earlier this year, and I kept going back to those - they had some really big, beautiful wrasses.

I am open to the wrasse idea. The purple tangs could still happen assuming I can get them small (1.5-2") but with the climate in the Middle East it's hard to tell what will or won't come out of the Red Sea

IIRC, the golden puffers don't change color until they are pretty big, which is why you never see small ones.
I think that is way too many big fish, personally. I don't think the number of fish is an issue, but it's going to look like one of those HK tanks with a ton of giant fish crammed into it if you get that whole stocklist. Rather than multiples of some of the larger fish, I would encourage you to get clouds of anthias, and look into some wrasses and even some of the friendlier damsels.

Why not a gem over the black tang?

I like the idea of a large group of pyramids (I would also drop the yellow tangs...the pyramids would fill the same effect, imo), but I have also had a ton of trouble keeping just a couple alive for very long.

Where is S. quoyi? You have that huge thread about them? I figured that you'd be trying a pair in the 625g.

The 7 Yellow Tangs, 3 Purples and a Black tang really scare me. One of the fish store owners tried to get a large group of Yellows going in his 2000 gallon tank. I think in the end he had one or two left.

Why not a Gem over a black... 2500$ more is the first thing that comes to mind! I lost my Quoyi along with everything else but 3 things last November from some bad CP. here is a revised list, keep changing the more I think about the fish and logistics or numbers and sizing

That's not happening, the group of tangs that is. Can't have a 30$ yellow or 120$ purple messing with a black. Also I doubt I will find two small false personifers like I want so that will probably only be one and the scribbled pair is still up in the air since they get large
