The 325 Pentagon/ 700 gallon system

It doesn't look like the dosing pump is set up yet. Have you used it at all for any length of time?

I'm attracted to the concept of using one of those as a "constant water change" device, so I was wondering if you were going to go in that direction as someone earlier in this thread suggested.

PS - kudos on pulling off a really weird tank shape. IMHO most non-box tanks look odd, but yours is great - it gives a good illusion of "disappearing" as if it slowly faded off into the ocean, as opposed to a rectangular tank, which typically has an obvious back.

Very clean set-up, nice work! How big are the bubbles in the neck of the BK, are they large or does it makes that fine frothy foam? Thanks

Boy, is this deja vu. I loved my large pentagon, but I had to get rid of it with no real access to water, so top-off was a pain, not to mention removing the canopy. Mine had to be solid as it could be seen from above and was made out of hardwood, heavy as hell.

I love the shape and the tank looks great. Mine was only slightly larger, with the same back side lengths, but with 18" sides and 60" front, 32" height. I do miss the tank.

Have fun with it.

Nice ride...I miss my 79 Cherokee. :(

Nice tank too. ;)

Im sure some one has covered this some were but I have yet to find it.. I attempted the rock and great foam and could not get it to stop floating to the top how did you over come the buoyancy of the foam?

Thanks for the compliments folks.

As far as the vehicle goes it is my dream ride. A 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I had been on the hunt for one for a while and found this one last year. I am in the process of fully restoring it. Nothing like 8 mpg.
The dosing pump is not setup yet because I am installing garage sink and not 100% sure where I am going to place the jugs so I am just still manually adding Ca, MG, and Alk. I have thought about using it for water changes though.

The foam rock is a tricky thing. It is a great way to aquascape but the one drawback is the buoyancy issue. I used as much rock as I could and just use the foam as a crack filler. If you use a bunch of foam it will float. We have a pool so when I would build a structure I would throw it in there and see if it floated.

Vegas Mike->I actually contacted you about your tank when you were selling it but I needed it shipped. I am very happy with it so far. Cleaning is a little painful on the back panels but other than that no big deal.

You are better off getting it local and designing it exactly like you want it. I used the Reef Ceramic panels on the back sides and they worked great.

I remember you contacting me and got a little laugh when I saw this. Congrats on the tank and great job. I used a BK 250 Internal on mine as well.

I see you have the same issue I had with flow against the front panel, makes it hard to keep sand there...:)

heard you went by jeffs today and got that big angel...nice!!!

Yup sure did. He seems to be doing well with everything. I know it is a little risky putting him in there but it was such a beautiful fish and a good price. Glad I got him.

Nice tank. Looking for updates also. Also what lfs are there in the Norfolk area? Hubby was up there rehabbing from an injury in the Middle East. We only found one and there wasnt much there.

Man I just did a search on myself and saw that I hadn't updated this in a long...... time. Actually had a mishap on Sat night when the sump separated at the seam. I was lucky and only lost about 30 gallons. I was even luckier that the plastics store was open and sold me some weldon. I was able to get it fixed relatively quickly.
On the flip side tank is doing well. I got about 500 crabs and snails coming on Friday to supplement the cleanup crew.

As far as LFS in Norfolk there are plenty. Reef Chief, Animal Jungle, and Fish Safari are the big dogs. There are plenty of other places as well. Check out www.hrrc.us for all of them.

She has been up and cycling for a couple weeks now. Things are going pretty well and as a note of change I am going to go with the Fauna Marin Ultralith system. It should be coming tomorrow.

Here are some updated pics. Added some moulding to the sides to encase it a little more. Please disregard the ladder. :)

I'm thinking the Vortech would have been better served IN the tank. They don't do much good on the windowsill. ;)

Updated pics please!!!
