I've got a Majestic with an appetite for anything red. I had some really nice red mushrooms and a RBTA go down because of it. I just lost a couple GBTA and some green shrooms the other day so I think it's taste has shifted..... you think you know your fish and then they go and do something totally unpredictable.... other than that, it's reef safe:hmm4:

I feel for you bro. But what can we do about our itch for angels though?.:bum:

Rusty angel-Centropyge ferrugata
The angel hasn't damaged any corals thus far (almost 1 year in tank). It eats most anything I feed -pureed clams, algae sheets, brine shrimp, etc. Very fat and colorful addition to the tank. Love it.

coral beauty--4 years--never touched a coral

cream angel--2 years----goes after elegance coral---just can't keep it and elegance coral in the same tank. Doesn't touch any of the other coral

I'm going to have to amend my comment that the Blueface only picked at clams. While the Clown was busy behind the rocks the other day I caught it going after a large Bubble Tip Anemone with gusto. Didn't do any damage but it sure was trying to eat it. Strange!

over the past four years I've had 3 majestic angels, None of which have ever niped at corals of any type or clams. I've had flame, lemonpeel, coral beauty, cherub, queen and lamark angels all in a 6ft 150 gallon mixed reef and the only one I ever saw nip at anything was the queen. It would pick the flesh off of allready dying acros. I never saw it nipping at any healthy corals. I would go as far to say that these fish are all reef safe with caution. Heck, even my pair of blue hippo tangs will pick at corals and they are well fed. I think It all depends on the individual fish and how well the natural diet is met in the home aquarium.

I have a changing blue face which seems to be reef safe except when I first got him I did find a chunk out of a paly which I credit him for. I over feed as well and have SPS, LPS, Zoos, Palys, and Shrooms.

just got a 8in orange tail emperor angel and hes fine never touched anything, now he has taken a chunk out of a wellso but that was my fault, i feed the coral mysis before feeding the fish and he went to eat the mysis and got a chunk of welso with it, corals fine and he hasnt niped anything since, got him about 5 weeks ago

I've got 2 Centrygope angels, a Rusty C. Ferrugata, and a Coral Beauty. They've been great with my corals, and I've never seen them pick, however I do not have much Polyp extension, but I've had the angels longer than most of my SPS, so I don't know any different, and my growth rates on the SPS are great, so no complaints. I've had them both (got them both together from another reefer) about 4 years ago.

My only complaint is that the Coral Beauty is a little bit aggressive to any fish smaller than it. It'll go after my Tomini tang, baby Niger Trigger (O. Niger) and occasionally a dottyback, but never does much harm, and no jumpers to date.

I have several dwarfs

1. Black Nox
2. 1/2 Black
3. Bi-color
4. Flame
5. Potters
6. Lemonpeel

Every once in a while, one of them will pick at my corals with no detrimental effect. They are fed well, and, the irritation is minimal. I have a 210 reef with ricordea, softies, and, most notably many sps including acro's and monti's.

In fact, they seem quite beneficial. Recently, I created a frag tank. Naively, I did not and a clean up/algae control crew in this 40 gallon breeder frag tank. A few of the frags developed a slight case of hair algae. When I placed one of the frags back in the main reef, the drawrfs had the algae completely removed in about one hour. The four tangs present, did not even go near it. I support dwarf angels, and, if I get more courageous, I would love to add a regal and an imperator and a queen. it probably will never happen, though.
