The "armitagei" of the Pacific... one beautiful hybrid I've waited for forever!

Thanks guys for the support... I need it this week! I got aftermarket wheels for my wife's new Audi Q7, plus $900 in tires and ~$270 installation... and she HATES them... back to the OEM wheels and I'm in the dog house! If anyone wants 22" wheels for their vehicle with brand new tires I'll give a heck of a deal and throw in sps frags with it... :spin2: ... and Italy getting ousted in the World Cup didn't help either! (all four of my four grandparents are Italian) Go USA though!

Love that clarion/passer hybrid. Amazing fish as always John, I don't think you have any common fish do you? :)

I do have common fish too... basically anything that excites me... recently I've also got a tiny bluestripe butterfly and a tiny cortez angel... along with a large group of parvulus cardinals... I buy fish because they excite me... not because they're rare... after over 20 years in the hobby hardcore usually what excites me tends to be rare. I've helped alot of people in this industry through the years make a lot of money, and I've asked for nothing in payment in money as I've kept this a hobby... I've seen many people lose their passion when they got into the business and so I've stayed out of it... fortunately my help through the years often gets me access to some fish that I find incredible... years ago no one in the US cared about many of these fish, but that is slowly changing... nature continues to provide a bounty of excitement...

I'll provide some updated pics soon... the flagfin hybrid continues to feed well through praziquantel... :)

how do you spill bleach on a fish?

I was joking about the bleach... that flame wrasse was collected that way and in the six months I've had it its colors have morphed and changed dramatically... it remains the only aberrant Cirrhilabrus I've ever seen...

John, it probably is a distasteful time and you don't have to answer if you don't want, but what is your take on the whole Goldflake "here, fine one day, gone-belly up the next?" Is it a collection issue, or captivity problem? Do you have anything in mind that you plan on doing differently with your hybrid, that might be the key to longterm success?

Most all of these issues with certain fish are not attributed to one thing, but I believe one of the major issues with these guys is that they almost always come in riddled with flukes, as did my hybrid. This fish was large though (a possitive in that respect in that they have more fat reserves), is eating well, and I received it within one week of its collection. Goldflakes could be held at Christmas, then in Hawaii, then sometimes in LA, then at your local store... little feeding for a deepwater fish combined with flukes can run you into issues... and Apolemichthys are not the easiest genus... but I always say "there are no angels that are hard to keep, only those that are hard to adapt."

Oh, and by the way here is my "Apolemichthys armitagei", now known by science to be an A. trimaculatus/ A. xanthurus hybrid...

I do not have a build thread, but I have many threads here on RC. This thread linked below sort of became one where I showed much of my systems, but unfortunately my photo hosting website went down. If any of the admins or mods can help me out with allowing me to change the links to my photobucket account please PM me...

Thanks guys... Gary is there any way I could change the links on my old thread to my photobucket account so the photos can be seen?

I posted pics of this fish on another thread, but thought the readers might be interested in this beautiful queen angel. And I threw in a pic of my armitage to boot.
