The Official Hurricane Irene Thread

I'm In Springfield, mass. Haven't lost any power or anything yet. Seems to me so far that the worst was between 8-9:30 this am. They say that the rain is down but we are awaiting the 60+ mph wind. We will see. I'm wishing everyone good luck!!

Seems to be winding down some, but they say the tail of the storm can pack some high winds as well...so we aren't out of the woods yet. We didn't get much rain here, but the wind is/was bad. Still no power and I'm guessing we will be one of the last ones to get it back (or it always seems that way).

Hopefully everyone's systems survive without any issues (or very minor ones). I think I have decided on my next toy...chainsaw!!!!

So far Thompson still has power. It has flickered a few times. But Putnam and Killingly have no power. Not sure about Woodstock. Good luck to Icycoral and Pallobi.

still have power in my area of putnam. Have a power inverter just in case it does though.

Power out for 7 hours. Will see what if anything survives. I guess only benefit is I just started so it doesn't cost to much to reboot

My survival kit. Also helps that the Yankees play twice today!

I'm on 10 hrs without power. My battery pump is going strong. I am blowing some current into the tank about once per hour with a turkey baster and my temps have held steady at 72. I wish everyone else luck with their tanks and property. I just took a walk around outs and we are trapped. We have about a 1500 foot driveway with a small cliff ledge in one side and about a 15 foot drop off atraight intothe wetlands on the other. A tree fell across our only way in and out. :(

So the power outage caused 2 of 3 power supplies on my Solaris to fry :(
AI system acted wacky but was okay after I reset the last stage.

I guess lucky me!!Never lost electric..Alot of leaves and sticks to pickup, but thats all. I did hear some fire engines during the storm.

I was looking at the local weather on MSN to check out the winds and saw taht there would be sub zero temps for a couple of hours. Is this for real or a computer glich?

I would imagine that would be a glitch. I can't imagine subzero temps now, its like 75° here. If it was december or january maybe but highly doubtful now.

Still no power here...going on 12 hours. I just drove around and there was at least 2-3 trees across powerlines. I'm guessing I'll be out for at least 2-3 days...if not much more.

According to the online CL&P map, 100% of east Haddam is without power. Here in Waterbury, 27% of us are out. I have partial power. Both tanks and the fridge are running, but no AC and most of the lights are out. The lights on my reef tank are out. We have a live wire in the backyard. We had a visit from the fire department and police to cordon the area off. They say it could be days. Not fun.

Edited to add: as of 6:02 pm, CL&P has 52% of customers without power statewide. This could take a while

That is what it looked like when I drove around...maybe with the 100% out we will be a higher priority, LMAO. Yeah right. I'm just hoping I can get a propane delivery tomorrow. The tank is down to 15%:(

I have a small. Honda generator. Enough to do some power heads. In bristol if it means life or death in ur tank id be willing to lend it out.

We are hearing a 5-day outage, what r the chances of survival? I only have a battery operated air stone. Decision may come sooner or later to sell off coral lps & sps.
Reefir-maybe I will take u up on that offer. I will be in touch tomorrow.

Curious how long are you guys running your Generators? i have never ran my gen more than 12hrs straight and im going on 10hrs, heading to that 12hrs.... and also is there a law that states cant run it after a certain hr? guess my neighbors going to be upset tonight gotta keep my corals alive!! just curious about this, specially with the talk that power will be out until next week in some places maybe longer?

Thanks, and i hope that everyone's reef's are ok.

I have a couple of 100 lb propane tanks, things here aren't too bad, I can top them off and meet you somewhere if you need them.
