Correction! The tap for the 1/4" JG should be FPT 1/2" which screws into the appliance. The other end of the JG fitting is 1/4" OD.

So if your airline is 1/4" (standard) it will fit into the John Fitting.

Why would you want a hose barb with a Jhn G Fitting?

So I can close off the fitting when I am not using the ozone.

Never mind I figured it out. I didn't realize I had to push in the airline tubing so far in so it could click in place. I drilled a .5 inch hole first and then put a fine thread tap in place. I carefully threaded the JG fitting in and then inserted the tubing in. It was a good DIY project.

Would ozone make a tank run higher on nitrates if not equipped with a very good skimmer ?

The thing is that ozone will brake some organic molecules into easier to process compounds. If you have a good skimmer, these compounds can be taken out of the system in a faster way, but also, they could be processed faster by aerobic bacteria to produce nitrate.

Any experiences with this ?

OK picked up my redsea ozone generator and set it up. The problem I am having is that my ORP reading on the display is at 74! Whatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s going on? I looked through the instructions to see if maybe it needed calibrating but there is no such thing. Is this normal? Do I need to give it time to adjust itself? I thought it would work in the same manner as my PH controller.

Let it equalize. It takes a day or two. In the mean time leave it off.(on but not dosing ozone)

i got mine on wed thew orp started at 74 as well today it is little over 200 give it some time i have read it may take up to 3 days

My ORP was 145 (No O3). Cranked on the 300 Mg Enaly, took about 2-3 days to reach anything over 400, now i am at a steady 415-430, water looks great

Thanks for all the info.
Took me 3 hrs to read this whole thread.
Going with the Redsea 50mg/hr with built-in OPR.
Cheers!

Can someone remind me again (unless I missed it in thread) why we care that much about ORP?

So we can make sure we dont overdose Ozone thats why! Overdoses of ozone can be very bad to your actual livestock in the main tank, thats why its also key to use caron on the output of your skimmer to kinda blow off the excess ozone that could be harmful.

I think it is like the Oxidizing Potential or how chemically alive your tank is.

It kills bad stuff in you water
Way to high and stuff dies, too low and stuff dies

Water changes and iodine will temporarly raise ORP
Or Ozone is probably the cheapest and most effective.

Correct me if i am wrong
