anyone have a finish air dryer that they want to share with the parts and location they bought their supplies from?

I use a an old Carbon Container with 2 holes in it.

The inlet has a piece of tubing that goes to the bottom of the container; the outlet (on top) goes to the air pump and subsequently into the O3 generator

The container is filled with desiccant (readily available on Ebay)

I also have 2 empty metal paint cans. 1 is filled with recharged desiccant the other is empty.

Once a month I take the desiccant out of the plastic container and place it into the empty metal paint can. I then place this can in the oven at 500 degrees for about an hour or so. I leave it in the can until I'm ready to make the change into the plastic container.

Wow! 500 degrees is way beyond what most sites recommend for typical dessicants. Plus, they say to make a single sheet layer of the dessicant, not stacked in a can.

Do you know what product you are using? Does it have the color indicators mixed in and if so, do they change back after an hour?

Thanks for any info. I have been following the instructions and not getting very good results, so I've been wondering if I should do what you're doing. As a matter of fact, I've stopped using dessicants b/c they are such a pain, and just running ozone without.

Whoah!!!
500 degrees sorry that was a typo; I meant 300 degress.
No mine dosen't change colors.
I keep the lid on the can of the desicant when its in the oven and I've never had any issues. As I said I change it monthly to what is in the other can. According to the instruction I received when I purchaed this stuff it should just about last forever if you keep recharging it. Sorry I can't be of more help to you.

So does anyone have any tank shots or before and afters?

The extra clarity that ozone imparts to a reeftank's water is tough to show through photos unless you're viewing a tank firsthand before and after ozone use. Even with constant carbon use, the use of ozone was able to clarify my tank's water like never before. Ozone is noted as a very efficient way to break down compounds that discolor the water.

You have never seen a picture of an ozone tank then, you can very very clearly see the difference.

It looks like there is no water in there, instead just post some pictures

But really I want to see some pics of tanks with Ozone for 6 months or longer.

Sorry to go to the end of a thread and ask a question that may be in the 20 pages that I didn;t even go to.

I am in process of a 90G with 20G sump for a total of 110G system. I was planning on UV then I can across this thread and other talking about Ozone as a possible better option. I also know that some run both.

I am new to the concepts of ozone and really need some advise.....UV, Ozone or both. I really don't have money for both so that would have to wait until the funds are available. If I go ozone, what size (50mg/hr?) would I need for 110G system running 6 hours a day (12pm-6am).

If this is discussed somewhere in here, I apologize....

Thanks
Chris

Ozone all the way as it will take care of what UV does and more.

I thin that it is 1-2mg a gallon depending on wheather or not you are running a dryier.

So 300 mg for 300 gal tank?

I just bought a Red Sea 50 for my 90 gallon with 40 gallon sump....haven't set it up yet, but I've read others using the same one on a 240(?) gallon, or, something much larger that what I'm running with positive results.

I am going to use a Berlin Skimmer for my reactor. Hopefully, most of yo u guys know how it looks it.

The air intake, can I attach the ozone generator to it? If I can, is the tube ozone safe? Do I really have to use the recommended size pump for the skimmer even if it isn't being used as a skimmer?

does anyone have any issues with your orp creeping up??
I have my unit set to shut down at 350 but my probe reads 370 or so.
if I take it out clean it then put it back in it will fall to like 170 then a week later it will creep back up.
any ideas?

Its just the probe getting dirty. I had to clean the orp probe weekly in order to get accurate readings.

What are the long term results or side effects to look for when running ozone at 45mg? I may begin running ozone on my 75g, but I don't want to risk having leaky plumbing or unions after 1 year of its usage.

Also, what's a good ozonizer to buy for a 75g?
Thanks

Why run 45 mg/hr when 5-10 mg/hr will work?

Side effects are as you mentioned..cracking.brittle pvc.

Try10 mg/hr at first and see what it does for you.

Brad

Well 45 mg/hr was a guess of how much I may run, but if you say 5-10 mg/hr then that what I may use.

How long do you think it may take for the PVC to become brittle and start to crack?

Thanks

set your output at 5 and see where your orp is in a few days. if still low but stable then add more untill target orp is reached.
on a heavily stocked 250 gal system I run 15 mg/hr and keep the orp 35-370 range

I unfortunatly don't have one yet because I don't know which ozonizer is good and will be reliable in the long run.

Are the red sea ozonizers any good?
