Question for the Ozone expert:

I have an enaly 300u and 250 gal of water, but don't have a controller yet, how many hour a day can I use the ozone unit without worrying about ODing my system ???

TIA

Is this everything I will need to use ozone? has anyone used this product and if so what are your comments? Also 1 more question is it enough for a 120 gallon.
Thanks
Michael
AquaZone Deluxe 50 - 50 mg/hr Ozonizer/Controller plus ORP Probe and 250cc Air Drier

Applying ozone to your tank raises the ORP, increasing oxygen levels and decreasing dissolved wastes; ozone also effectively kills numerous harmful pathogens. AquaZone ozonizer`s corona discharge technology provides higher ozone concentration than UV bulb style ozonizers and allows variable ozone output. Just dial in the amount of ozone that your tank needs!

Automatically controls the flow of ozone according to a pre -set ORP
Easy to read backlit digital display
Easy adjustment of ozone output and desired ORP
Continuous display of current ORP
Safe and easy to use.
Includes 250cc Air Drier

I just installed the very same Red Sea 50 mg unit on my 300 gallon tank. Here are my 7 P.M. nightly readings since Tuesday when I started it at 100 %. I set the limit at 370 but it has not gotten there yet.

Tuesday..........7 P.M. 153 mv
Wednesday... 7 P.M. 206 mv
Thursday........7 P.M. 277 mv
Friday.............7 P.M. 283 mv
Saturday........7 P.M. 310 mv
Sunday..........7 P.M. 330 mv

It's amazing! This is not an inexpensive hobby! Some of us have thousands invested in to our systems. Yet, some of us are willing to take extraordinary chances because they don't want to spend a couple of bucks on a controller to monitor their system and keep it safe.

Answer to your question:

1. Read this entire thread.
2. With 250 gal; and an Enaly 300u you should be able to run it continuously 24/7 for a couple of weeks before you have no clue where your redox reading is at. Let alone what your redox reading is at before you start dozing O3.

Best of luck to you in 2006!

Anyone using an Enaly Ozone Unit with an Octopus Controller? I saw one guy had problems. Which Ozone Generator shoild I get to go with the Octopus?

I can promise Enaly and X10 will not work (no matter which company), guarateed 100% failure. other than that I dont think anyone else will know.

I tried the Enaly with TWO filters, and still lost 100% of my control.

I have my Red Sea 100mg ozonizer plugged for the past two weeks, running 24/7 at 40%. (300G total system)

I have not seen much difference in the ORP readings. It doesn't go up and stays at 298-302.

Is this normal?

See, thats what I want to find out iwth other people. Like when I was using coralvue ballast with the ACII, that thing would go crazy. However, when other used the same units, same X10 etc, they didn't have any issue. For some reason, no one has said anything.

I want to know if others had the same issue beside you. (Liquid, I am not doubting your experience or anything, so I hope you don't take any of my responses as an insult.)

Enaly and X10

Enaly and X10

I was planning on controlling my new Enaly with my Octopus 3000 and X10. This is dissapointing news. I have an X10 signal/noise meter and an X10 Transmitter that I can use to test the line. I just finished programming the Octopus and setting up the Ozone generator and reactor. Tomorrow I was going to set up thye X10 receiver and plug in the ozonizer. I can monitor the X10 signals and noise and I will post my results here tomorrow.

I ran my ozone generator through a pressurized reactor yesterday for around 12 hours while monitoring the ORP. It went from around 290 to 330 and the water clarity is astounding! I am sold on this stuff! Even with running carbon, I have never seen my water so clear. Now the question is will it help me with my algae problems?

Question:

When I set my DIY ozone reactor up with my Ozone generator, I noticed that I have to turn down the input water pressure or the ozone input line backs up with water all the way to the check valve. Although I have eliminated the water backing up in the ozone input line, I do not see any ozone "fizzing" in the reactor.

Should I see the ozone fizzing or exiting the airstone into the reactor? Although 200 mg / hour is small, I thought I would see some fizzing or bubbling from the ozone entering the reactor. Any comments, observations, answers are welcome. I think I might get an extenal pump and bypass the internal Enaly pump....I opened the unit and it looks really simple...just involves removing the power to the internal pump, disconnecting the airline from the pump, and running it out of the case to an external stronger air pump.

Hi Armando and Happy New Year. I read that ozone is more effective if you run it with an ozone reactor that is pressurized. This forces more of the ozone into the water and results in optimum ozone use. I thin I read it in one of the online Albert Thiel papers and in the DIY section on SaltwaterAquarium.com. You also must have all ozone resistant tubing, check valves, etc up to the injection point. Even if you have just a small amount of non-ozone resistant material, the ozone will react with it will result in lower ozone getting to the injection point in your reactor or skimmer. Hope some of this helps although I am not familiar with your setup.

Hi Chuck happy New Year!

I am running it with the Coralife Ozone Reactor which is pretty cool BTW. the tubing is not ozone resistant (on my todo list) but it's pretty short.

I believe that an enlay will knock out ALL of your x10 units. I am unsure as I use direct connects for all of our controlled devices, but I did think that I read that the Enlay puts interference in the power line that disrupts x10 signals, similar to how certain ligthing ballasts within a houes can knock out the x10 signals.

Hope that helps.. best of luck :)

I am planning to get a generator, drier, and a separate air pump
to run the generator/drier. I already have an Octopus controller and plan to use it to shut off the generator wqhen the ORP gets too high

Again, can anyone recommend the "generally accepted" dosage of ozone per gallon of water?

I believe that I read somewhere (may even have been somewhere in this thread) that it is around .17 mg per gallon. I do know several people with 200 - 300 gallon systems that run less than 25 mg and are extremely happy with their results :).

Remember, it has been stated that it is better to have a consistent supply of ozone as opposed to intermittent bursts of high doses of ozone. IE: A tank that calculates out to 25 mg would be better serverd with a constant 25 mg dose as opposed to 100 mg for 15 minutes each hour.

Hope this helps :)

how would you have a constant supply when using an enaly? people have stated they use it on a timer, they can't run it on their x10s, and/or no dial :(.

I place my bid and hopefully I get mine soon. Also praying that it won't affect my x10s.

Better to run the enaly on a dedicated controller vs. an AC w/x10. The Enaly units are not contollable in the sense that they can be varied like the Red Sea, Aqua Medic, or Sanders units.

So, I read the thread and still don't understand how to kill the smell. Is there an easy diagram to install a skimmer with an ozinator, and kill smell?

Perhaps this should be in the X10 forum but:

Why couldn't you have the X10 switch control a surge protector in which the device (Enaly or any other) is connected to. If the surge protecter is on the Enaly gets power if its off then there is no power. I 've had no issue with running any of my X10 switches this way.
