how much air should I have running into the generator?

Its been less than a week and my 2lb air dryer is almost completely soaked.

If you have an airpump full bore then IMO its too much . Use use a luft adjustable airpump and it makes all the difference. Right now I haven't recharged my airdrier over a month . But during the summer every 4 days or so . I just bake them when I bake baking soda :)

I see this thread just keeps on getting more interesting everytime!

I have found this ozonizer and I am planning on running it for my 75g. It's the Sander model, but I've seen Sander models with a different appearance, so is this one good?

That looks like an older model as well. Supposedly the older models need cleaning a little more.

A quick question for the ozone experts.

I too have been contemplating the use of ozone for my reef. I have been in this hobbie over 15 years and have never used it. My ORP values are consistently 390-415 mv. The probe is new and is operated by a Neptune controller.

I see that many people on this thread have values in the low 300's. Also, ozone users recommend ozone use ceasing at ORP levels above 360 mv.

Is is necessary for me to use ozone with my current ORP levels? I'm concerned that if I do add ozone the ORP will increase to unsafe levels.

Your opinions please...........

Are you cleaning your probe weekly in vinegar ? If not your readings are wrong . IME probes need to bee cleaned weekly to maintain accurate readings.

I have 2 aquacontrollers and this experience is with both. I would be safe to bet your actually in the 290-315 range Also let me guess that your 415 is a nighttime/lights out reading ?

Thanks for the replies guys. I usually clean it once a month in vinegar. I'll give the weekly cleaning a try. Maybe I'm not soaking the probe long enough.

How long do you recommend soaking the probe? Also, how often do you replace your probes? Do you soak your PH probes in vinegar as well?

I soak it for 10-15 mins and swishing it around . Then I take a toothbrush and gently clean it some more.

When done I place it back in the sump and it restabilizes in 30 mins . I only replace the probe if its damaged or reading erratic. My ph probs are cleaned way less . I have one that hasn't been cleaned in a year and it is still calibrated. But the others are cleaned bi weekly.

Thanks again. I need to soak the probe longer and more often. I also used the toothbrush method for cleaning the sensor.

The ORP levels have dropped and are much more accurate. I'm now getting levels of 340 or so. I'm sure, with time, those levels will stabilize again.

Now I think I may be going the Red Sea ozone generator route to get my ORP back up!

my ozone with the unit t'dintothe skimmer is 332-335. It does not seem to increase. I guess I will have to buy the luft air pump. problem is I just do not want to run the pump 24/7

Put the air pump on a timer that you can get at Walmart or Target for cheap.

Might want to crank it up a bit from 40 to 50?

Do you have the ozone running 24/7?

the ozone is running 24/7 as I set the orp at 360. I did increase today. I will see what happens. I have a timer so I can certainly set it onto that. what do most run there ozone at. from all I read about 5mg per 25 gallon is good. some say it is ok to run at 10 an hour. I wonder if on my tank this would be ok as I have no air dryer at present and it is just t'd in?

Anyone else having problems with their Red Sea 100 A/C adaptors dieng. In 8 months I have lost 3. Just before the last one gave up I was not able to get my orp above about 240. I think the unit is no longer putting out ozone, even with the a/c adaptor working. I'm in to contact red sea again to see what they are willing to do. After the second converter died they wanted to know if I ha it hooked up to a surge suppressor, I was using a cheap one. I changed to a better one than my PC and now it happened again.

It does seem to be better to have a seperate generator and controller as this would turn off the air pump and the generator at the same time.
