I mean if the orp shuts offf the generator because the max orp has been reached the air pump will still be running on a red sea plus.

thanks glenn

Fred J,
How'd you know it wasn't producing ozone? My ORP dropped over a couple of days from 400 to 100, and I thought it was due to a new fish dying. But, it's stayed at that level and hasn't budged for the last couple of weeks, even now with the ozone (supposedly) running continuously. I tested the probe and it is accurate.

disney95,

For someone that is not running ozone, a value of 188 isn't necessarily abnormal.

Clearly the most common source for algea outbreak is excess nutrients/waste products.

I'm not sure I understand the 'T'...help me, please.

I just bought the 50 mg/h Red Sea ozonizer deluxe.

Here are two installation scenarios, which one is correct, and why is the 'T' fitting necessary?

Scenario A:
Air-->small air pump-->air dryer-->ozonizer intake-->ozonizer output-->John Guest fitting (AquaC EV 180)?

>OR<

Scenario B:
Air-->small air pump-->air dryer-->ozonizer intake-->ozonizer output-->'T'--> John Guest fitting on AquaC EV 180?

Ixthys My machine acted the same way yours is. Also I could not smell any ozone when venting directly into room. I wish I knew of an easy way to actually measure the output. I just know when I first got it The ORP would raise up to my cut-off point.

Ixthys,

I just started running O3 a couple of weeks ago. My orp was 265 before O3 and i'm running it at 380 now. I'd suggest 180 is quite low.

ReefRockerLive u can get away by getting a monitor but it will not stop the ozone from going up in ur tank unless u have some type of controller to turn off the ozone when it gets to high. (danger zone)

howman that would do the trick, just make sure to clean the probe once a week.

ReefRockerLive,

Don't consider myself an expert, but I've done alot of research. Controller is recommended, but there are those that only monitor. I run a controller.

howman,

that setup should be fine. I'm running a redsea 200 with Milwakee controller through my ASM G4-X on a 125 with a 40gal sump. I've had to turn the O3 unit down to 25% and the controller still keeps it off most of the time with ORP set at 380.

I'm upgrading to a 230 with a 100gal sump and frag tank shortly. That's why I got the bigger unit.

If I get the ORP monitor and not the controller, when or if the ORP levels go too high, can I just lower the dosage amount or turn the ozonizer off?

If the ORP levels fluctuate a lot, what can happen to the tank?

Yes, if you're around and notice that it happens.

From what I understand an ORP of more than 400 is detrimental to your critters. If ozone is getting through to the tank in the water it can fry your fishes gills. Not a good thing.
