Thumbs up for Ozone!

Have you cleaned the plates inside? I'm not sure on the red sea but some have an area where the spark creates ozone and this gets gunked up, almost like saltcreep.
 
No I have not but I will take a look at this then. I was just scared to take it apart without knowing what to do. Thanks alot
 
I used to use an air ozonator that worked in a similar way... when needed, I would remove the plates and clean w/ a bleach/water solution to remove the build-up. Maybe this will help. Good luck. BTW, it's beenover 5 years, but I believe I let the plates sit in the solution for a half hour or so and then scrub lightly w/a soft toothbrush.

I'll bet it was an Alpine or thier later name Ecoquest! I have one. I've burned up many a plate.

Do you smell any when you start running Ozoner? I just started running Ozoner a week with 5mg for 24/7 but I can smell something weir at the skimmer area. I'm running Aqua Sea 100mg Ozoner. Is it normal and what should I do to get away the smell?

I don't think you can even open up a redsea unit without breaking it.

On the Sander unit, the plate is on the outside so it is a simple matter of unscrewing it.
 
SO, is bleach and water the preferred cleaning method? I have used soap and water but am wondering if this leaves too much residue.
 
I have had to open my Red Sea unit to replace a fuse. The actual ozonizer is a tube with holes on each end and it did not look like it could be taken apart.

They put out 360 mg o3 per hour. Maybe I should set it in a sealed container with my airpump for my cc skimmer!
 
whoops, that didn't work but you can see the top of the unit! :lol: I think my older one put out 565 mg/hour and they decreased it on newer models.
 
Uh.....has anyone else had their ORP drop after starting Ozone? Can't figure it out. Shut the ozonizer off and it comes back up. Anyone else have this experience?:confused:
 
are you sure you don't have it hooked up backwards?:lol:

I just got my coralife ozone reactor today and after reading the direction I was a little confuse how to set it up so I got the number of coralife . I told the person on the phone my problem and that I bought it from marine depot and I was shocked when the guy said that he was surpise they were still selling them because they stop making the reactor about 3 years ago. Has anyone used this reactor
 
I wish that was the problem. It's kind of idiot proof though, so I'm safe. Big letters reading 'Air in' and 'O3 out' on it, so I think I got that covered! ;)

So no one has any ideas as to why this might be happening? ORP going down when Ozone is turned on? Initial breakin or something odd?
