Total Loss....

That's solid Dave. Can't believe you even thought to do that. Mine might have wound up in Davey Jones' locker aka the crapper. Nice work!

Tank is finally full. All corals are in and most even opened up for me. The CBB is swimming and is eating great! So although I lost my 2 beautiful tangs and Anthia's it wasn't a total loss.

I must say this was one hell of learning experience. But in the end I learned quite a bit. From fish, corals, plumbing, bulkheads, everything. Minus the fish loss and I actually enjoyed it as crazy as that sounds.

Order up the 300:thumbsup:

This hobby will test me I tell you. Came home from work today to find out I really did lose my CBB this time. Poor guy gave it all he had. In the end it was all my fault for not planning better I guess. Also all my serpent or brittle stars whatever they are called are dead. They must of came out of the rock work because they are all over my sand bed and stuck to the power heads. Thats not good if there dead. I suspect my tank is riddle with ammonia from dieoff from the rock? I'll be testing here in a few minutes.

Also found a little leak on the bulkhead. Of course I decided to tighten it a little more and what do you think happened? Pop, cracked the bulkhead and water running all over.... Get that all dried up only to find out our great awesome LFS dosen't have any bulkheads let alone my size. It just keeps getting better....

So if this is ammonia spike from the rock what do I do now? Keep changing out the water? If so how often? What can I expect next? Off to to test...

Man wow tough to hear this we have all been there though. Things will get better. Are you running any carbon

That certainly sounds like the scenario Dave, but only your test kits will tell you accurately what's going on. You may have to settle in for a cycle or short lived cycle. You've got a lot on your plate to be sure. I'd hate to see this sour your (and your families) enthusiasm for the hobby. Hang in there Bud.

Have to throw some in tomorrow. Ran out of that as well. See how great my planning was....

Well Cully we don't even metion the 300 for now. I just need to stop this forest fire before it totally wipes me out of corals now. I did lose all my SPS. I had a nice piece of ORA Red Planet, ORA Bellina I believe its called, don't think i spelled that right and a few nice others. Just trying to save the softies now....

For a hard luck story like this, I'm happy to hook you up when the time is right. Cully Claus. I like the sound of that...

Sorry for your losses Dave. Keep your head up man. What size bulk heads are you looking for? I have two I got in a kit from glass holes I haven’t used. The kit came with a 1 ¾” hole saw so they are meant for 1 ¾” hole. They are 1 ¼ slip on the tank side. You are more than welcome to one of them. I also have some SPS I could frag for ya no charge to get you jump started when your ready.

Thanks for the offer guys. I'm sure I'll take you up on some of them as the funds start tightening for the 300 build. Dave I have some Bulkheads coming my way. Should have them tomorrow. But thanks for the offer...

I'm 100% sure that the fish loss was due to oxygen depletion. What size tub did you have them in? Your CBB was probably in a coma-like state from low oxygen and it slowed his metabolism down and saved him.

I had the same thing happen to me. You'd be surprised how fast the fish will deplete the oxygen in a container if the water isn't agitated.
