Picked up another 250G on Friday after noon. No problems and there were several people walking around campus.

8,000G's hu? Probably your best bet is to talk to Scott at ine info I provided on page 14 and see what he can do to help. You'll need a big truck and trailer to haul that much. That or a lot of trips down there to pick up a little at a time. I have a 400G container you can borrow but you'll need a trailer to haul it once it's full because it's going to weigh about 2 tons, 4000 lb's.

i just read this about Scripts NSW. anyone know if this is true for ucsb water?
the NSW offered at Scripps for free to the public is barely mechanically prefiltered. The water they use indoors instead has been massively filtered (mechanically, ozone, etc.) and treated/analyzed before use.

Check our club website. There is a full pictures and everything of their filtering facility that we did a tour of. 
We get the same water that they use in their research. That tap that the line is on is from the research facility that is in that building. It also goes to the other buildings in the area. Take a walk around the corner of the building and peek inside and you'll see the research bins that that same water is going into.
So yes, we do get good filtered water.

I replied to that thread and it seems Anthony dosen't like anyone who goes against his thinking of NSW is bad for our tanks. I just don't understand how something that the fish normally live in could be so bad for them as he states.

Anthony is a product of the hobby industry and his success. It's often funny and disturbing at the same time that those who work in the commercial end of the industry never recommend NSW, but those in the service and hobby sides dont mind using or recommending it.
And to say that synthetic salt is perfectly consistent is pure bunk. They dont produce a product they cant profitably sell. To ensure that one batch matches another in consistency would be a major undertaking. They can make sure it is within certain standards or guidelines, but the manufacturer sets those points themselves.
NSW changes with the seasons, tides, currents and biology in the oceans. Animals not only expect the natural cycles, they depend on it to regulate their own biology. NSW will change gradually, where a bi-weekly water change with synthtic salt can vary widely.

Do you guys think that the Zaca fire that has been layering the whole town with ash would cause any problems with the water? I know that it is filtered pretty well, but just wanted to be sure.

I'm going down to san diego tonight. Being my first time down there, I was wondering if anyone can give me specific directions where the spigot would be at Scripps. And is the pier off Discovery, thanks in advance for the help.
