I love the new scaping/rockwork! :inlove: Way more open structure and aesthetically very pleasing! Well done with that!

I notice that you are another SPS keeper who doesnt use GFO/PO4 remover...can you briefly explain why?

And since you dont use GFO, do you have any idea what your PO4 is at?

And lastly, how do you deal with algae?

I am seriously considering removing my GFO and starting to dose small amount of Vinegar.

Many thanks.

PS Keep the photos coming. The new scape is a work of art man, this display just looks 10 time better now with a simple re-arrangement of rocks. -Its going to look super once grown out. :celeb1:

Thanks sahin for all the comments. I am really looking forward to see all these acro colonies grow out and see it fill in.

I do run EcoBak pellets and that is how I control my nitrates and phosphates. That is why I have never had any algae issues. The only algae I am dealing with right now is on the sandbed, which is from using all new sand and this setup only being 3 months old. I am a firm believer in bio-pellets, and they have been the main reason for my success being that I have only been in the hobby now 3 years. I feel like the idea of starving your tank to keep algae away and keep your params low is not how to be successful with bio-pellets. I have never been able to get a reading on my salifert nitrate test kit, and my hanna phos checker has read as high as 0.12, but that was after not adding any pellets to the reactor for over a year. As soon as I added 30ml it went down to 0.04 in 3 days. I keep a lot of fish and I feed heavy (3-4) times a day. I purposely keep my filter socks running longer than most folks to allow nitrates to build up a bit so the bacteria on the pellets can colonize more and then also consume phosphates as well. There is a ratio theory that folks talk about and they swear that pellets work for nitrates but not for phos. I think this is the way I keep the nutrients to a level to where the pellets can perform at their fullest.

I dont think pellets are the best option for everyone and certain systems. But finding the proper balance of bio-load and feeding is how pellets have worked really well for me. I know that vodka and vinegar dosing works, but I just dont have it in me to dose something every single day. And bio-pellets being a constant carbon source that I rarely have to deal with is perfect for me.

I agreed looks great! Nice and open!

Thank you sir, I am very happy with it.

Finally got rid of all my green slime algae on the sandbed. Things are doing well over all now. Happiest Ive been with the tank since the move.

Thanks everyone.

I am hoping to get a friend over soon with a decent camera. I just have to cut enough frags to entice him. :)

Yes it does. I have seen lots of reports that these are fast growers. I plan on placing fairly high up....really because thats the only place I have for it. haha

Hopefully it will take off quickly.

That flo' is fantastic! How long have you had your chromis, and how many do you have in total?

I had 4 of them in my 30B at my old place and then 4 more when I moved back in Oct. They have been good to each other this whole time. I'm amazed.

wow can I be your friend and get a pack like that lol... nice tank man you did a great job on it keep posting pics

The friend came over and serviced my AC unit on my house. Excellent trade IMO.

Interesting. Seems like people have very hit and miss luck with them. I'm assuming you keep them well fed?
