Upgrade Build- Dowtish's 120 gal Oceanic Tech Tank DSPS

Love the new rockscape Chris!

Thanks Rob!

Looks very nice - what kind of par are you getting on that tank. Nice rockscape!

Thanks so much for the comment! Coming from you, that is a huge compliment. I actually have not put a PAR meter on the tank yet. I only used one in the past to make sure I had enough. With this fixture there is no question. LOL
I'll borrow one from my reef club and get back to you on that.

Pro Corals Rainbow is getting really nice coloration and growing fast. This pic doesnt do it justice at all

Nice! Does it have the blue coloration like in PC's website photo?

So far its more of a green blueish, but nowhere near like their pic. The tips are actually kinda blue which is nice. I dont think anyone has really gotten the blue edge at the bottom though...

Yeah I think the blue is so elusive on this coral. I wonder how Sunny managed to pull that colour?

Its a very nice piece either way.

I was wondering the samething ...I have one in grow out that I almost lost during my up grade but it's doing just fine now just waiting on it to start growing :)

Yes it is. I am all about a nice colored stag, even if it doesnt have the blue.

I have never seen anyone report getting that coloration like shown on PC's site, which is unfortunate, but I think this is one of those pieces like Red Planet, that depending on the lighting and flow and placement you get more green in it than red etc.

Yeah I have mine in 100-150 par and it has a very nice green/yellow base which I like a lot .
This acro is very funny to me ... Loves the flow but not the light lol . Acros I tell u lol

Hey! Tank looks awesome. I also have a tech tank that is in the build phase. I was curious if you used the stock plumbing? The dursos? If so how do the perform? Are they loud? This will be my first reef tank and I'm taking my time, my sump will be in the basement so the water will be falling about ten feet. Any recommendations? If my tank is half of what yours is I'll be stoked. Thanks.

This looks very similar to the red convexa that Darryl brought into Ontario. Greenish rainbowish base with nice uniform red in the branches, and darker red polyps.

I did use the dursos. I am not completely happy with them, as they do make a little more noise than I would like. I need to install the locline for the returns, but they are so ugly. But it would definitely cut down on the trickling sound. If I had not been moving and upgrading at the same time, I would have cut the overflow box out, plugged the holes in the bottom, and drilled the back and installed a Ghost Overflow from Reef Savvy/Synergy Reef. They are amazing overflows, and the guys who designed it are personal friends of mine. If you are really taking your time, you might want to look into it. Plus it would be such a smaller footprint in the tank. The center overflow is way too big IMO. Good luck with the build! post a link, so I can follow it.

Pearlberry, Red Planet, and orange digi are getting happy.

I actually thought about that today I think I'll go for it. Looks kinda difficult to remove the overflow tho? Would the bottom seam be compromised where the overflow glass meets? That would be sick the ghost will fit right in the cut out of the euro bracing. Tell me what you think and I'll document it in my build, my tank is only a 90 so this will really make a huge difference.

You will definitely need to make precision cuts on the silicone to remove it, and I would just get another piece of glass and silicone it over the existing holes.
