Want a centerpiece anemone

Ditzy blonde nasos. Figures.

Somone tell me where to get one of those purple crispas.

Hard to find really pretty purple crispa's, but the smaller sebae anemone, H.malu seem to be much easier to find bright colors, purples, yellows and others, and their size makes them much more manageable for mixed reefs IMO.

I have a few options:

1. Move the clarkiis out of their own tank into the reef (unlikely, as they are comfortable there, and I've even observed nesting type activities lately).

2. Find a wild caught pair of my dream clownfish, A. bicinctus (yeah, right  )

3. Find a nice percula or ocellaris pair like I had originally in the reef.

Look at ibluewater.com they have some rare clowns

Hey Davo, did you see the LTA's Will got in? Wow!

I have seen similar to those in his store before, I'm not sure the deal on them, they do not keep those colors, especially the blue green thing I think he calls phantom LTA or something like that.

After my exp w/ those super bright LTA's from there, and having them totally fade from those bright colors, I started following up on other people's experience w/ them.
This is an example of what they usually become, this was the last person I followed up on w/ these super bright blue LTA's.

A agree with Dave. Those popping color are combination of mild bleaching and light. They will disappear or tone down quite a bit as the anemone get healthier and not under light to intensify to color.

Yeah, I didn't think the blue would be permanent, but I think that'll be a nice purple one, no matter how it settles.

Most of the ones I followed up on just did not survive, the above example is one of the more positive outcomes.
Those super bright LTA's seem to be stressed to the point it is difficult to bring back to health.
I think a lot of novice or beginner nem keepers are left thinking LTA's are just much more difficult to keep than they really are, when the truth may be more likely they got one of these stressed beyond norm nems.

I have to disagree slightly. I believe the purple and green should hold their color relatively well. As they expand regain zooxanthellae, they may lose a slight bit of their spender, but not much IME. The blue ones almost always go brown however.

Here's a shot of what most can expect out of your average purple when healthy.

There are completely purple versions out there though.

I might be weird, but the result isn't all that bad, but I would say that the end would be better if the green was retained in some fashion.

I actually would be stoked to have that nem in bottom pic, but it fits my flavor too.
I would however be bummed if I were someone really counting on getting what you saw in the pic bought as a WYSIWYG, especially if it just continued to bleach out or brown out and not have some kind of appealing color.

Well that mag continues to do very well. No moving after all, no deflating. But the bicinctus weren't what I was looking for, so the nem will be clownless for the time being.

Yeah I'm a little jealous at the deal you got and such nice color already, very healthy.
I look at mine and think it will probably look pretty similar to yours, but I will not be posting pics until it has been brought back, nothing to brag about on my end just yet, but I will be happy to document and post recovery later.

For me, I want to post as I treat the anemone like myself and worm. That way, we have accurate information. Many people will not post failure. Wait until they have sucess then post the whole thing. We cannot use this type of information because it give skewed information.

Phil, you sold it to me. He/She (it) is doing amazing. It has not moved since placing it in the tank the first night. Its in a 50g long and takes up almost half the left side of the tank, and houses a pair of Onyx true percs. It blows people away when they see it in person!:) Ill try and post some pics in the near future, but I hardly come on here anymore. The tentacles are all at least 6" long.
Paul

I think a nice purple crispa would be a great choice. Once they get established they a pretty much bullet proof. Here are a few pics of mine at different stages of its life. I don't remember who I sold it to. Maybe ShowJet. If they are healthy they will live where ever you put them, up in the rocks or in the sand. They are not very picky about current or light and are generally accepted by all clown species. The purple ones are a little rare, but no more so than a healthy gig or mag that also happens to have nice color.
