Want a centerpiece anemone

I haven't seen a wild bicinctus since '07 :(

:( You never know though, PIA had a WC pair of A. chrysogasters a little while back, and that is pretty darn rare.

Must be running into the same issue I have with finding C. colini then. Talking to Kevin over the past week about getting them and he has only seen 4-5 colini in the past 5 years or so. Pretty much said the only way I could get them at this point is with a higher price tag to pay the collector. :(

Kevin mentioned to me that some wild bicinctus came in maybe a year ago, but they were HUGE, so he passed on them.

Malu are nice but they don't get big. max out at about 7 inches or so. IMO, they are not big enough to be use as a centerpiece. They are OK for a centerpiece of a small tank. Need DSB.

I just saw malus that were like 1.5 feet.

I'm glad you went with a mag. I know a lot of people on here are all about gigs, but I find mags a lot more interesting with their differentiated column color and peculiar "balling behavior".

Well unfortunately this one doesn't have a colored column :( But who knows, if it does well for me, maybe I'll source one of those red column ones, find a pair of wild bicinctus, and recreate my dream clown tank :D

Interesting.... the anemone moved a tiny bit, sort of sideways, so that the flow is hitting it's oral disc straight on. Normal?

Think of it like a dog.... Why in the world would you want to stick your head out a moving car and let the air flow over you like that, BUT don't want to sit infront of a box fan....

It will retract and move to get the flow it is looking for. Weather to allow the tentacles to flow in a certain pattern to maybe always getting food when water flows across in a certain manner.

There are lots of things that us as humans take for granted. These items are on almost a primal aspect. If I set this way food will come to me. Or if I set this way the light will be different.

I know they like flow... I was hoping to get that cool upward flow, as opposed to the plastered open look with the flow hitting the mouth. Can I be more picky? :)

I think a nice purple crispa would be a great choice. Once they get established they a pretty much bullet proof. Here are a few pics of mine at different stages of its life. I don't remember who I sold it to. Maybe ShowJet. If they are healthy they will live where ever you put them, up in the rocks or in the sand. They are not very picky about current or light and are generally accepted by all clown species. The purple ones are a little rare, but no more so than a healthy gig or mag that also happens to have nice color.

Yea my vote is for a crispa too.. I have seen some get absolutely huge and are easier to care for. They dont eat fish. Even though I love my gigantea and my crispa..

Edit:
oops see you got one already.. nice looking anemone..

Yeah, ouch is right.
The 3rd one actually lasted a day, I was literally typing on here and posting a pic to brag of my final "success" when I heard a splashy sound, and went to my living room to see my crispa all balled up, knowing that meant he just ate something sizeable...
I gave up on blond naso's that day.
