Perhaps I can cheer you up with a picture of this little guy I picked up last week?
...
It is just the cutest little carpet at about 6" in diameter.

I have some other pictures with some closer-in views but I haven't yet uploaded them to the web yet. Perhaps later, that is if anyone's interested to see them.
How is the little guy doing? I would love to see more picture.

Thanks,
I took my tank down and was just totally depressed for a long time. I got to start a smaller tank up in the near future (I hope)

Where are you guys finding these gigantea? I have been looking for almost two years at LFS and online with no luck. Thanks for any help.

Nice find, Cherryproperty! Got fish for them?
I've had some help finding some very unusual carpet anemones since starting this thread, but my camera is in need of repair- so I can't show everyone a picture just yet. I have permission to use someones elses shot of these rare anemones.. so I can only tantalize you guys with this pic for now.

Nice pics Gary.

I don't have fish for them. The last blue Haddoni I had was brutally murdered by a trio of black saddles. They were so rough, flying into its mouth at a hundred miles an hour. There is a pair of Chrysopterous at the same shop and I put a small deposit on them. In a couple weeks if the Chrys seem healthy at the store I may bring them home, provided the Haddoni are doing well.

I finally picked up a few mini carpets, they are nice, but not as nice as yours.

Yes, they are. From what I can discern, they are a large morph of the carpet anemone species Stichodactyla tapetum. They are actually growing more colorful in my aquarium right now. Look closely- there is a pink carpet anemone at the bottom of that picture!

Gary,
I'm glad you are happy with those. I can't wait for you to get your camera working. I remember 4 or 5 of them that I thought had great potential.

Not as exotic as those pink and purple carpets people have been showing off lately, but here's a pic I snapped the other day from over top of my green gigantea. I made a little acrylic box for taking top-down shots and I've been experimenting with the photo-taking from that angle. Sorry it's a bit washed out, I need to practise some more at it I guess. The green is more intense in person than it is in this photo.

I guess it's been about 7 months now in my tank. Unfortunately I have a bit of a NO3 problem hence the red slime. Apparently I overfeed and need to train myself to be more disciplined on my approach to feeding my critters...

Good for you. He seem to be doing well.
Somehow I got 6 email notifications of this thread today.
I guess the computer have glich.

Man, that is one stunning anemone. It doesn't look like a carpet to me, but who cares?! :D

Its a giant carpet (S. gigantea) like this one that I have. The purple gigantea is just holding itself a little tighter.

Phil,
I have not check Reefcentral for some time. How long have you have your Gigantea? Can you tell us your tank condition, or anything helpful for us trying to keep this species? (or point out the tread you discussed this topic before)
Thanks,
Minh
